The subject of enlightenment.

I was once told that Theistic Satanism was about becoming enlightened and God-like yourself. Satan was just there to help you achieve this. Is this true, or does Set just want you to follow him?

The first is correct. Satanism is also about freedom and independance, Enki doesn't give us power but ways to awaken our inner power. If Satan/Enki (he is not Set, Set is a son of Satan) wanted us just to follow him this wouldn't differ from christianity and would be classified as RHP, not LHP.

Satan is Enki/Ptah, not Set.
