The night of the long knives

So I learned about the night of the long knives in history this week.

What I want to know is, did it happen for the reason put out that Rohm and the SA were a threat to figure of the past as the way historians put it out to be or was it for some other reason?

Did figure of the past really set up all the executions of Rohm and the high ranking SA soldiers by the German army?

Any feedback and opinions is much appreciated!

Hi First : Rohm was NOT executed!!but presented with a

gun & requested to shoot himself
Rohm &(Some 40 leaders) the SA where a SERIOUS treat to the
relations between figure of the past & the Reichswehr
If figure of the past had not taken action the military
certainly would have ! & perhaps Ernst Rohms death
would have been more violent
