Some people here may be confused as to why we call ourselves Zevists instead of "melding" into the background of broader Paganism, the short answer is: Because we are different to them and we ALWAYS have been. The truth is Paganism as it is today is not actually that different to the Paganism of the ancient period, the vast majority of "Pagans" back then whether they were Hellenic, Norse, Celtic or whatever, were not by and large particularly spiritual people just like the "Pagans" of today, they had a spiritual caste amongst themselves who led and organized their spirituality but for the vast majority the Gods and the soul were an afterthought; they prayed, they did celebrations and acts of worship and they did believe, but very few earnestly tried to advance their souls in a meaningful capacity.

The priesthood and mystery schools of the ancient period are OUR actual forebears, we are not the "pedestrians" of spirituality, we as Zevists do not simply pay lip service and "believe" which is good enough for Pagans, but not good enough for Zevists. We walk the path of the Gods, by being a Zevist you take a step closer to the Gods far greater than any other, the difference between a Zevist and a "Pagan" in closeness to the Gods is far greater than the difference between a Pagan and Christian!

But of course this means to truly be a Zevist you must truly walk the path, you must meditate, you must advance your soul, you must try and deepen your relationship with the Gods, anything less is not being a Zevist because these things are what define us.

Being a Zevist is more than just believing in the Gods, or even doing the Dedication, its about transforming yourself into the greatest possible version of you, its about walking the path of the Gods and finding your place on Olympus.

If you are a Zevist and try to talk with normie Pagans, thinking they are just like us, you can be in for quite a shock.

You tell them about the Gods and how they helped you and they respond by ridiculing you. "C'mon, you really don't believe the Gods are real beings who intervene in our lives, do you? They are only forces of nature! Zeus is just thunder and lightning. Aphrodite is love. The ancients only worshipped nature and human psychology, not supernatural beings!"

You tell them about meditation and how you grew spiritually and they laugh. "Duh, you are telling me you do nothing but sit and visualize your chakras or whatever? That's a waste of time!"

You finally give up, and ask them "why do you call yourself a Pagan if you ridicule everything spiritual?" They reply "well, I like the ancient Greek/Roman/Celtic/Viking aesthetics and practices". The xians are right when they call them atheist LARPers.

Same as it ever was, there was a reason christianity spread like wildfire amongst the "masses" it was a religion which required no real active participation or introspection, just say the lines go to church and boom your "saved" and your right the vast majority of "Pagans" are just larpers.

Spiritual people have always been a minority, the ToZ is the first time where the doors of spiritual advancement have been "flung open" and everybody who is willing who has even the smallest amount of potential can come and grow.

This is also explained in the Ethics.

Too much brainwashing can cause you to think that you do too much just sitting around. Nowadays, anyone can add any “knowledge” without any basis, and this leads to mental confusion. The enemy has altered many things over time, and this has ended up mixing up various things. As a result, today people think that picking any herb in a forest means honoring their pagan ancestors, but that's not how it used to be.

They don't want to take responsibiilty. In Zevism, you are responsible for your own salvation. You can't blame other beings if you don't meditate or care for your soul. Most normies prefer not to think about those higher concepts at all and focus all their time in useless consumerism and materialism that won't matter at all once they are dead. Kinda like how they don't take responsibility for their health and eat junk food, don't exercise, don't meditate, don't release old emotions and then when they inevitably have health problems they go to the doctor to "fix" them. They would have prevented them all if they cared for their body and spirit.

I think It's safe to say that paganism relies on tradition while Zevism relies on truth.Especially when considering pagans "offerings" to the Gods.
