Should i avoid pap smear or just get it over with?

AvatarRetrospect1 min to read

Hi so i have had two pap smears in the last couple years and both times were horrible experiences. I wont go into too much detail but im due for another one and i just rather stop getting them done all together. I don’t find them necessary i am monogamous. How much risk is cervical cancer anyway? I asked my friend about it and she said its not that big of deal that they found something abnormal and burned it off in her. So thats my question should i just get it over with or just skip it as i hate the experience. Also on social media there are posts against pap smears saying they do more harm than good and can damage your cervix over time. What do you guys think?

There's an at-home hpv test which you can do. I thought they only did cervical screening every 3-5 years, though? Possibly you don't need one every year.

(Hi! I don't post or talk a lot, but I'm SS, here for some years learning and participating silently 🤫😉)

Unless you are very old, or think you are at risk, I wouldn't do it every year.
It's an every 5 years thing.

And there are easier ways to get checked for STDs.

This is the targeted message.

Its not every year sorry its been like 3 years i think. I was just paranoid because of the stuff they say online that they damage your cervix. I already feel i have fertility issues.
