I believe it is all a misunderstanding, given the fact that all other religions derive, in a way or another, from the jewish culture and they all have mixed up things, creating a lot of confusion. That is why the majority believe that Satanists are bad people, murderers, and etc, etc, etc. Which is absolutely NOT the true.
When we, Spiritual Satanists, commit our soul to Satan, we resign to ANY other religion. The fact that "witches" say they are ruled by Satan does not mean they know the truth. The fact that Wiccans make sacrifices with animals, therefore stating they belong to Satan, does not mean they know the truth. The truth is, as you may know, that we do not perform any kind of animal or human sacrifices, do not engage in any other activities other than the ones explained in the JoS site. The JoS site is likely the only place where you will find the real thing.
Why? Because we are Spiritual Satanists. We do not belong to LaVey, we do not follow LaVey, for instance. But Lavey and his followers claim they are of Satan too. Nevertheless, they are not real Satanists, although they believe they are.
Don't get confused. Over the web there is a myriad of information that say Satanists are this and Satanists are that. Stick with JoS and you will do fine.

I read a post here that said you cannot be Wiccan and a Satanist which I understand. However, can someone explain the difference between a witch and a Satanist since the God of the witches is Satan? Also, don't SS need to know how to do white and black magic? Also, since Father Satan is the God of the witches why do some believe in Jesus? Or am I confused?
