In my experience, no. The demons are wary about working with anyone who hasn't dedicated. It is a trust thing. Once you are dedicated, the demons accept you as one of their own, but before they do not know where your loyalties lie. If a demon wants to tell you something important, the demon could contact you without you knowing it, but it is very unlikely that you could be the one to make contact before performing the pledge.
