I think he did win, as he accomplished the best he could in those years.
He did "lose" as the ammassed power of Germany plus the allied countries, in terms of energy, was probably lower than the enemy mass energy.
The Gods were bound at the time but now they are free... next time it will be much more powerful impact against the enemy, the final solution.
