Are you running out of breath when this happens? To some degree, holding our breath allows us to sense our heartbeat better, which may be prominent in people who are normally more high-strung.
Reduce the amount of time that you are restricting your breath and see if this continues. Similar to exercising with metal weights, you don't want to push yourself too much.

There is slight natural variation in heartrate with every inhalation and exhalation. When your lungs are full there is less space for the heart so it pumps slightly faster and vice-versa.
Also, with every inhalation as the space gets tightly packed it is normal to feel sensations such as heartbeat more easily.
