This post by HPHC explains the (current) "need" for AI images quite good.
To create something like this, the artist needs time, skills and knowledge in depicting the Gods properly.
A human-made artpiece in a style like this would take at least several hours or days (if not WEEKS, if you consider the image of Lord Alpheus and all the details in this depiction)
I have noticed that there are many artists active in the forums lately, maybe they also feel a "push" in advancing their skills and to do art for our Gods (at least I do have an urge to practise a lot of drawing lately..)
But it all takes time to develop the knowledge of proportions, spatial depth and perspective, colour theory, ...etc. to create something like this. Also knowledge of the respective God and how to depict them appropriately.
Maybe there is/are already someone who can create stunning art like this - this would be really awesome!
As for now, I do think the AI-images are fine. They do their job to convey how the depicted God does appear. For a very visually inclined person like me this helps in connecting with the Gods. And it gives me ideas what kind of art I want to create someday
