I want to make a career out of being a Hentai (anime porn) artist primarily using subscription based services for revenue, such as pixiv fanbox, patreon, gumroad, etc

I have been honing my digital painting skills for awhile now and have been getting positive responses from friends and coworkers.
I would like to open a social media account (Twitter, Instagram, and Bluesky) within the next few months and eventually link to the sub sites based on initial response.

I have a few concerns and would appreciate as much help in this regard as possible. I want to make it a life long career.

1: This counts as creating a business correct? I read a thread about it being important to plan a business start date accordingly as it creates it's own Natal Chart.

We are dealing with actual poison of the mind and soul, or at least with something that could turn into such, very easily. Please forgive me, staff, but I have a feeling I may be one of the few with the unfortunate amount of experience to respond to the original poster's inquiry.


Hentai is arguably worse than normal porn because of the artist's ability to draw anything imaginable, including things that aren't real and shouldn't be real. Many things in hentai shouldn't even be a thinkable concept. What Aquarius said is correct in 95% of cases, because since porn amplifies delusion and warped paths of thought, you as a hentai artist possess the power to spiral millions of people into the weirdest fetishes and self-destructive psychologies possible.


- If you wish to make a living out of hentai, please make sure to illustrate stories and scenes that don't involve horribly degenerate fetishes that are popular nowadays, such as cuckolding, interracial (especially in the Western hentai community for some reason?), children or characters even somewhat resembling children, etc.

And please properly include the male character's facial expressions in general. In a lot of hentai the male character's face is obscured and he treats the female character like shit, with terribly degrading dialogue, unrealistic exaggeration of sexual intercourse (like the penis being so large that it hits the cervix, which would cause extreme pain in real life but is always present in hentai) and the scene then ends with her laying there like a used toy. In this case you can still create pretty innocent things, like solo scenes of a character naked or in a risky outfit, or suggest some light context to circumstances. In cases like these it's actually kinda harmless as long as you don't include obviously bad fetishes and dialogues. You can create more complex scenes as your artistic ability increases.


A lot of hentai is corrupted because of the minds of the creators behind it, but it doesn't have to be that way. In fact, from my experience, vanilla/wholesome hentai with art that evokes beauty and heartfelt emotion, that depicts sexual scenes in a sensual and caring manner, is actually very popular, just sort of rare. Luckily, I can't draw anything that I have no passion for anyway. Had a friend ask me to create artwork for his Warhammer channel but I simply couldn't get into it.

This is exactly what I'm doing right now! Just putting some of my favorite characters into risky outfits or erotic situations. I honestly haven't drawn full-blown sex yet. I wanted to start out with Standalone pics with variations into a painted CG set. Then maybe dive into colored Manga. If I ever got to the point of recognition then I would hopefully make characters for Gacha games or big VN companies. I probably won't do RPG maker stuff since I don't want to focus so much on coding and creating a world. I just want to do the art.

A few examples would be how I put a character into a thin white slingshot party dress with bright blue ribbons and bows adorning it. This character is shy so I made it a scenario where she got convinced to wear it for someone she loves but is embarrassed plus slightly aroused at the same time showing them.
Another is in a red one piece without any undergarments' and is lifting her skirt up in a teasing manner. She's a jokester kind of character who likes to play pranks on MC.

All of my art so far is pretty innocent and focuses on trying to combine beauty and sex, love and passion. Maybe I shouldn't even call myself a Hentai artist per say. I want the pictures to invoke lust in the viewer but also be something that people actually find pretty to look at. My artistic origins were so bad it took me a lot of cleaning and realization just to realize how terrible they were. But in the end, it's not about who we were, it's about who we choose to be today and henceforth.

I've been focusing on standalone illustrations for now and haven't dived into manga/comic style yet. I'm not sure how people monetize webtoons but I'll look into them a bit more.

It does not need to be a stepping stone, a stepping stone could just be to draw normal anime characters, not hentai.

You're right. Sometimes nudity is okay for anatomical practice and if one keeps it to themselves, but I understand what you mean. Perhaps I've been doing this for too long, and I've deluded myself into making excuses to justify the ways I've come to think about it.

It might be time for me to utilize my abilities in a way they deserve to be properly presented, instead of just lust.
