Proper combined usage of the runes Ingwaz and Bjork/Bercano

So far, I have been trying to make a thoughtform powerdul over time, to do one powerful working. Ao far, having the thoughtform store up energy for the task has proven, I need to do more work. They always "die"(they actually explode into a confetti of harmless energy, hehe) after a few days...so, turned my attention to the runes, a nice fallback for someone like me. I remember one rune (Ingwaz) storing energy, for use later..and another to "unlock" said energy. These...probably won't work for the one specific task I need, as storing then streaming the energy ia a requirement, something I need to train to do. But, how would a young witch use these correctly? Curious, that one stores and one releases in such a way.. Also I may have misunderstood their uses entirely. I apologize.
