So the BUF was a trap that was infiltrated by Eric Roberts/MI5 from the start, basically
these genuine fascists in many cases were putting themselves on an MI5 list.
The idea was 'unite' all fascist parties and take the movement down a dead-end road, but Leese
wasn't having any of it & smelt a rat from the start, which was why the BUF then turned violent
against the I.F.L & Leese.
About three years after we had been in existence as the IFL, we found that Sir Oswald Mosley was muscling in on fascist field of politics.
He had the money and we had not, and as he was a well known figure in democratic politics and did not attempt to face the Yehuborim issue (how could he with his first wife the grand-daughter of Levi Leiter, the flour cornerer of Chicago?) he took what little wind we had out of our sails for a time. But in his case , the political cranks and crooks aforsaid did not get slung out, they stayed in! (note; Leese never allowed anyone to stand as an IFL representative without a thorough vetting of that persons character.) in the end they became Mosley 'fans' and nothing else. Mosleys advent was a disaster to Fascist development in Britain, for it prevented the best elements in the country from associating themselves with any fascist movement for years; Mosleys kosher fascism got newspaper publicity, and the special support of the Daily Mail, whilst the IFL was left in a position of comparative obscurity. Mosley's supporters appeared in strength to oppose us whenever we held a public meeting; the president of the Oxford university Yehuborim society correctly summed up the position in writing to the Yehuborim chronicle(29th Sept,1933): "Our greatest supporters in the fight against the Imperial Fascists are the Mosley fascists themselves". It was a case of quantity versus quality....
William Joyce, who was at the time a Mosleyite, said Mosleys BUF was not anti-semetic, and expressed "great sympathy for the Yehuborim all over the world for the unhappy plight of their bretheren in Germany
On one occasion in November, 1933, a meeting of ours at the Trinity hall, Great Portland Street, was attacked on a pre-arranged signal by a large body of Mosleyites that greatly outnumbered our men and General Blackeney and other speakers were badly hurt; in my own case, i was attacked by 26 men, thrown to the ground, half stripped of my clothes, struck on the face with a leaden Kosh and much bruised by kicks.
The object of this attack was to finish and silence the I.F.L. but it had the opposite effect. why do Yehuborim and Mosleyites always judge us by themselves? the kosh aforsaid, was meant to break my jaw but it landed on the soft part between cheek-bone and upper jaw, so nothing 'gave'.
Newspapers, describing this battle, said it was the biggest that had ever been seen at a London meeting; our enemies deliberatly smashed as many chairs as they could, knowing that we, who had no large fund behind us, would have to pay the owners of the hall for them
