Hello all, I was looking at the JoS site, specifically the section about dedicating your soul to Satan. I was wondering, do you HAVE to cut yourself during the ritual, or is it something that is optional?

You need to do everything in the ritual as it is unless you have a health problem like hemophilia or you live with your parents and you can't do it physically or any other reason that prevents you from doing the ritual. If you have a serious health problem which can cause you to bleed to death you should do the ritual without blood (common sense) and if you can't do the ritual physically because your parents can't leave you alone and would drag you to churches if they found you're a Satanist you should do it in your astral temple (which is a place in your mind). But not if you are afraid or have hang-ups about blood or something else because it's actually about overcoming your fears.
