Weeeeell, I had that problem.
Orthodontist fixed it, that's why I can speak correctly right know.
It affected me mainly regards to speech, and it was wearing away my teeth.
People, starting with my own family was often making comments about my "peculiar speaking form", since I was a teenage... I didn't know nothing about my problem, until one day, two years ago, when a classmate said to me that I was talking like a serpent  mean, hissing. Well, he imitated me and just laughed away, while I felt a little bit ashamed. That night I recorded my voice in my smartphone and what a surprise! I was talking like a fuc*** retard! Ohhh maaann, I felt really ashamed of myself, because all my life I had had that horrible condition... That horrible problem at the moment to open my mouth and speak with other ones! And no one had tell me nothing about.
So, I think that classmate was a good dude after all, because some days after, I went to the orthodontist and she explained me what I had.
Currently I don't have that problem, and I had the fortune that it didn't affect my appearance as in the images of the examples on this post  .
I totally agree with say that it's a problem that must be fixed, of course, preferably at a young age. I encoure to everyone to talk about it with the affected ones, sometimes is better to be "the bad one" that says the things (with some humour preferably), and not to be the one that just laugh at the back of other ones and never says what could make the difference.
That's all by now, thx for read.
Blessings.
