(kundalini yoga)alternative to sitting on heels?

Sitting on my heels is..uncomfortable. like, painfully uncomfortable. best i've been doing so far is trying to sit for a few actions, then easing up off of my heels.
the fault is my thick thighs and tendons in the top sides of my feet. i'll lose that weight eventually, and hopefully those tendons will loosen from stretching in time, but for the time being, any alternatives for this?

I also had this problem, especially when I was overweight,when  little by little  my elasticity was improving and I was losing weight I just managed to solve it, another advice is to use some soft place like a mattress or a bed and avoid the hard floor.

tried the mattress, helps some. the main pain seems to be the feet now, i think ive stretched my calves and thigh sections enough, doing both kinds of yoga. but the achilles' tendon area is now the worst.
i'll work on it. thanks
