The Mayans believed their predecessors came from the stars. The Mayan Indians of Central America knew the earth was round centuries before the Westerners made this discovery. The Popol Vuh states that several gods, including Hunahpu, Xbalanque, and the great God-king Quetzalcoatl, returned to the stars after their life on Earth.
Within their culture they have legends of visiting Gods from other worlds. The being known as Quatzequatl the Great Feathered Serpent was a God who brought the teaching of peace and harnomy to this part of the world and appeared as a White God with a beard. The drawings of him look almost identical to the drawings of the god-like being known as Ea or Enki in the ancient Sumerian teachings.
