Hello. D;I am always sad to be making a new topic in this group lol.
So, I've noticed that the last week... or the last two weeks... two things have been happening. One, I have a loss of appetite.
Two, I have loose stool.
Ssssso, I wonder, what could be the problem. And how to fix it.
I've come up with some things on my own as to why this is happening... but I'd like to hear people who might know better.(If I see that the problem persists regardless, or that it worsens (most likely the second possibility) I will see a doctor, and hear what he/she has to say; until then though...)
The things I've thought that might be at fault is, in regards to the loose stool, the fact that I shower with cool water. I can NOT shower with hot water (in this weather, it's unbearable), so I shower with cool water. NOT cold. Just cool.

In regards to the loss of appetite... I wonder if this is because the weather is very hot...? Or maybe, because I know I will have loose stool, so it really doesn't make me want to eat at all. :p

Yeaaah, truth be told, I don't know why I have a loss of appetite.

I had, in the past, posted another thing here about another health problem, so I had given some information about my eating habits and such (I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't eat chips and all that)...
Truth be told, if I ONLY had loose stool, I'd say it's because I shower with cool water. However, my loss of appetite is what troubles me... ;[

Finally, I tried to search online for diseases/etc that have these two side-effects, and I got so panicked and stressed by all the things I read, I shut down the Internet LOL
So yeah. ;POn a final note, in regards to the loose stool, after I eat something (anything) I feel a burning sensation in my stomach (which makes me understand I'll have loose stool before I even go to the toilet; I had this in the past as well -I had even posted it here xD- but it was just a cold after all. But what about the appetiiiite!)

Mmm... Sounds like similar to what I had/have

I wouldn't blame that on the cool water. Don't think has effect besides helping stay cool. However from going from hot to cold may have an effect on the stomach.

Though rest it's prob like me to much sun so alot of heat and stress/anxiety that's prob effecting ur body.

Thank you centralforce for helping me, also helping me understand more about what's going on and thank you for u time.

Loose stools and poor appetite together indicates Spleen Qi Deficiency.

This usually comes about as a result of overwork, overload of digestion with greasy or raw or cold folds or as a result of a long term infection.

Consuming warm, cooked, soft root vegetables such as pumpkin, sweet potato, squash and grains like barley can gently help to rebuild spleen qi, along with obtaining adequate rest from work/activity.

There are some herbs which can help? Including Astralagus and White Atractylodes, Codonopsis and Ginseng are stronger options.

Spleen qi rebuilding herbs should be used in low amounts for relatively short periods with time between courses as they can also generate heat which causes other problems. They should also be stopped altogether if one contracts a cold or flu as they can make it worse.

With respect to your theory of cool water... Qi is responsible for warming the body and forming a defensive barrier to the outside world. If it is already weakened, adding a further burden to warm the body by cooling it down externally may be enough to push it over the edge - though I doubt just using cool water is 100% of the problem.

If it were cold water, then it may be the sole cause given a long enough period of time doing this.

that's not what he meant akemi, me meant that by starting a new thread in sshealth he has something wrong with him.
if there wasn't something wrong with his body that was making him sad, then he wouldn't have to post on here.
get it?

I am delayed to respond here, because I wanted to do an experiment and come back.

So, I stopped using cool water, and started using hot instead, while taking a bath. In the beginning it was difficult, but after a while it felt sooooo good.
And after 3 days of having warm baths, I no more have loose stool. (yay!)

Nevertheless, I am still unable of feeling appetite/hunger. I check my clock to know when to eat lol.

@seerofoss I *will* check the anxiety thread (that's the one you meant, right?)... A friend of mine (a Brother) had once commented on how I am always stressed... I hadn't realized it at all. But why would this be affecting me now?
So, I wonder if there is another, unconscious (subconscious?) stress that I'm carrying these days. There are some stuff involved with my future these days, and until September/October, I won't be sure about what will happen with my current job and so forth... But I'm not consciously thinking about this at all.

However, in regards to being UNABLE to shower with cool water...... can't anything be done with this? -_- I wish to have as few physical limitations as possible in my life.

@centralforce, the things you mentioned in regards to rebuild spleen qi (Consuming warm, cooked, soft root vegetables such as pumpkin, sweet potato, squash and grains like barley) are things I never eat... some of which I don't think I've ever eaten... :p (pumpkin specifically)

Will eating these help my body to be better able to handle cool water? (by fixing my qi? Spleen qi? I am quite unfamiliar with Chinese medicine and ideology/knowledge on these matters)

Being chronically stressed can also deplete Spleen Qi, and this can be explained in very simple physiological terms.

When one is stressed, the tone is high in the nervous system branch responsible for managing stress, the sympathetic branch.

Increased sympathetic nervous system tone reduces the activity of the digestive organs by virtue of the balance it keeps with its opposite branch the Para-sympathetic nervous system also called the rest and digest branch for its functions.

In addition to the above dietary recommendations, relaxation techniques are essential, and ensuring that food is not consumed in large amounts infrequently but rather the opposite.

Exercise can also help with this.

From previous conversations which I recall with you, where you have asked questions about a disorder which was very mild and relieved by exercise, this is an onward progression of that syndrome.

An useful herb which you might consider in this instance is bupleurum, a liver protective herb which can assist with reducing the impact that being stressed has over digestion.

This can be combined with a very mild and gentle spleen qi tonic herb (too strong will worsen the stress part) such as Codonopsis Pilosula, in small amounts, at a ration of perhaps 1: 4 to bupleurum.

Bupleurum dose of cooked in water should not exceed 9 grams.
