I quitted porn and life feels gray now

AvatarDarkAries1 min to read

Greetings!
So, after whats like 10+ years, I finally blocked all porn in all of my device, and it feels pretty miserable to be honest. Tried nofap for a while(Im past four weeks now), it went without any major problem, but this... I know, dopamine reset and all, but life feels so boring and gray now, and I even found some troubling articles that it might wont work and dopamine receptors never truly resets after it. So, can someone help a bit making this endurable? Its only a week passed yet.

You're not supposed to go no fap mode, but to pleasure yourself without extreme external stimulation from porn.

Not sure why but it seemed this thread opened up a lot of members to read this. I'm almost done with the book and I also agree with that it has valuable info in regards to the brain and dopamine stimuli not just from porn but anything else we are ourselves have trouble giving up because we perceive mundane things as pleasurable. I won't get too much into it and save it for another thread with this specific topic. I still have the rest to read after all.

Great read on addictions from a perspective not yet explored fully but we all know deep down is poison.

I agree with you, this method can also be applied to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Youtube, Disney +, Netflix...

There should be other activities that we should do to relax than social media or movies, if you were once addicted.

Not getting your usual dopamine can make you bored but you'll adjust and will find enough dopamine in other / "smaller" things. I also need some dopamine detox.

Brother, can you share some dopamine detox tips that you're okay with sharing?

Void meditation and light cleaning when needed throught the day is what I have so far.

You didn't ask me but intensive cardio remains one of the most powerful ways to detox from anything.
Like intense as fuck cardio.
I am not sure anything else even compares, maybe like a 2 hour hatha yoga session.

I wouldn't be able to say better than HPS Lydia https://ancient-forums.com/threads/spiritual-reset-day-dopamine-detox-day.91725/
Some things I would say also depends on the individual, you have to listen to your higher self and the Gods. Natural source of dopamine can include working out, meditations like beautiful meditation from Zeus, reaching goals, having success in anything... Dopamine from any positive / beneficial activity is very good for you.

I think I know what you mean by the cardio thing. I have noticed the "runner's high" makes me grounded and extremely calm.

Thank you.

I happen to pass by a passage from Marcus that I think will be helpful to this topic. It is in regards to stress and the lies we have told ourselves when we seek a crutch.

I know there's more to this porn thing but with the EasyPeasy method and this passage I believe they both help the mind.

"Its normal to feel pain in your hands and feet, if you're using your feet as feet and your hands as hands. And for a human being to feel stress is normal- if he's living a normal human life.
And if it's normal, how can it be bad?"

So, its been three weeks, and havent watched porn since, and not feel the slightest missing of it. This book was truly a treasure, thank you. Specially the metafore that watching porn is like drinking bleach. Of course, life isnt good just because of it(I ranted out in the past days, sorry for that), but porn would have definitly worsen it.

Quick note, after a month of grayness and a very depressive and gray month, I had my first big fallback. Yep, Im not proud of myself, but this is the first time for long when I finally feel relaxed and happy, and not constantly feeling that what I do is not enough. Damn. Guess its back to mundane suffering again. Back when all life blur into one continous boring shit again

To be honest, its been five years now since I try and fail to quit porn. And whenever, no matter how long I quit it, my life becomes significantly worse. It does not feel like quitting a bad habit, it feels like cutting out my lst source of joy from life, and torturing myself for nothing! And it never gets better. Longest I ever quitted was about three months, and nothing changed after it. Fucking nothing. Life just a suffering as usual.

Nah, I long lost hope even for a close friend, not even for a partner. Hoping is just make it hurt more. But still, in fact, it hurts
