There are moments in life where you seem to "Wake up from a dream";
where the world around you seems like a photograph that is not
reality, but is so violently beautiful and real it hurts. In these
moments, we see something, hear something, or understand some integral
part of ourselves or the Universe - some awe-inspiring realization. I
wonder sometimes just how many people have these moments, and how
often? psychologists have been known to believe that everyone has one
or two tops in a lifetime, most never have one. Some systems of
magick say that this is a state that can be reached and held for the
duration of some period of time, or better yet, a lifetime.

I am curious, how many of you have stood on a mountain top and had a
moment like this? How many have seen something and later you perhaps
couldn't remember what you saw, but you felt like you had really
reached something special? How many have had a moment of such clarity
like this that seemed to energize and burn you to a core, making you
feel, if but for a moment, like the great poets of the world must have
felt when they wrote their poems and stories? How many have had a
moment like this?

Where do you believe it comes from? What triggers it? Who has them?
Why do we have them? Can anyone have one? And why do we forget what
happened right after it happened, often times trying our damnedest to
hang on those moment in any way we can - even if it means adding
meaning to it in our own way?

Is it just the religious who have these religious moments? Is it
something else?

I just had one of these moments today. It was truly magnificent.
Immediately afterward, I was spontaneously endowed with knowledge of existence and how things (including myself) function. Damn amazing feeling that lasted only about 10-15 seconds :( .

It was definitely not a coincidence that I came across this question the same day I experience what you are describing. This is a sign :D
