I read in an old Greek book that helpful spirits are attracted to flame and some Greeks wouldn't say things unless they had a candle. I think candle is great addition to Ritual. O Lord of fire! Easy to invoke! Carry our prayers to heaven!

Sure if you want to set a mood with candles or incense for example, go ahead! But you don't need it.
