Destroying Thoughtforms/Aether?

Since thoughtforms are ultimately made from Aether, could it be used to destroy them more effectively? Would invoking the aether first then destroying them be more effective? immersing yourself into the aether, and then destroying the thoughtform and visualizing it dispersing into the quintessence, maybe?

Or would that have the opposite effect and strengthen the thoughtform? I don't feel/think that would be the case. Most logically it seems that using quintessence to break up a thoughtform would be more powerful/effective. I feel like I've read that somewhere, but I'm not entirely sure.
