Learning the difference between the Talisman, Amulet and Charm will help you understand crystals better. Here's some background I've found:
When it comes to defining the word “Amulet”, “Pliny the Elder” a Roman Author, Naturalist, Natural Philosopher and Naval and Army commander for the early Roman Empire; mistranslated the Latin Etymology of the word sometime between 23 AD and 79 AD to mean something completely materialistic. That is, an Amulet is an “object” and means the same exact thing as a “Charm”, therefore a Talisman is the same thing as an Amulet. All of which is completely false. Both Amulet and Charm were made to mean, “An object, used to avert evil”. Or more importantly, “The power one has to avert evil, using an object”. This materialistic / insane view went virtually unchallenged throughout the Inquisition, which started with the founding of the “Dominicon Order” in 1220. The Medieval Inquisition started with Gregory IX in 1231, then the Spanish Inquisition of which most are familiar, occurred in 1478, with it being authorized by Sixtius IV. From c.1500 to at least c.1600 you have a complete media blackout regarding spiritual terminology. The funding of this venture was largely credited to Leo X, when he instituted pre-press censorship and established so-called diplomatic channels with the press in 1515. The same thing is occurring today. This coincided with Martin Luther’s so-called protests which were actually designed to set up and structure Jewish religious control programs more efficiently. That ushered in the official founding of the Jesuit Order in 1540. In 1588 Sixtius V created the, “Congregation of the Holy Roman and Universal Inquisition” or “Holy Office” for short. Just prior to that in 1571, St. Pius V created the, “Congregation of the Index” forbidding certain books and so forth. It wasn’t until 1908 that the name, “Congregation of the Holy Roman and Universal Inquisition” became softened to the more palatable “Holy Office”. Then in 1965, Paul VI reorganized the “Holy Office” and simply renamed it again. This time calling it “The Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith”. Supposedly, “the Index of Forbidden Books” was abolished in 1966, when a new Jesuit program was enacted in 1963, which simply involved flooding the literary world with shit. For example, in the United States, the Jesuits, through Psychiatrists / Criminals (Pedophiles, Drug Dealers and other perverts), took over the role of the Dean or Principle and the Academics. It was the year that traditional “Reading Class” was replaced with “Study Halls / Detention Rooms” and Dictionaries stopped being assigned to each student, and were quickly removed from institutions of higher learning. Words are power. This sacrilege and blasphemy, resulted in a catastrophic decline in society in general, which can be demonstrated and clearly proven statistically. And that continues to this day, as does the Inquisition. Amulets, Talismans and Charms are not materialistic objects and never have been. They are as old as human civilization itself; are one of the, if not “the” oldest forms of magick known to mankind; and therefore, take on, more importance, than the current confusion surrounding them prescribes. Objectifying the Amulet and the Talisman as non-spiritual objects did nothing to those that understand elementary stone magick and the real difference between an Amulet and a Talisman. However through this objectification of the two words, using the largely materialistic (scientific) dictionaries of today, their meanings were unfortunately blended together. Another one of the false definitions for the word “Talisman” comes from Greek “télesma” meaning, “payment”. This is where the false idea of selling the use of these objects to others, comes from, even though this evidently did occur to some trivial degree. In actuality however, “Telesma”, is equivalent to “teles-“, which is a variant stem of “teleîn”, meaning, “to complete; perform”. To this you add the noun suffix, “ –ma”. Putting this compound word together, it means, “To complete or perform a ritual”. The Talisman or Amulet was ascribed with magical powers, when ancient Egyptian priests performed religious ceremonies and magical rituals that were focused on the objects and said sacred prayers over them. Ordinary ancient Egyptians did not have easy access to Priests, so to compensate for this they wore “Amulets” (not Jewelry) that had magical worddddds, inscriptions or prayers cut into them, called “Charms”. New age Witchcraft played a large role in defining Talismans as Sorcery - at which point Talismans were ignored and dismissed as Sorcerer tools and myth. New Agers, then, started calling Talismans, Amulets. They thought a bag full of herbs and “magickal things”, such as stones, represented an Amulet (singular). In actuality, the bag is a Talisman, with some Amulets in it. Amulets all have very meaningful and specific shapes and very meaningful and specific powers, based on what they were made of, naturally. All Amulets come in natural form whereas Talismans are manmade objects that can be either natural or non-natural. Therefore, Amulets do not include herbs and “other” magickal things. For example; New Agers more often than not, don’t understand that most Talismans are crystals, nor do they understand their operation. Most think of them as the more simplistic, degraded, materialistic objects, they’ve been ascribed, such as pendants. In fact, New Agers often call the sacred Pendulum, a pendant. The Pendant means “to hang” as in an ornament. The Pendulum means, “a body mounted so that it can swing freely under the influence of gravity”. Gemstones were apparently used to ordain many Talismans in addition to their typical crystal base, but this is simply a false notion some have been lead to believe. The top ten list of so-called gemstones used in ancient Egypt were actually very pure and simple Amulets i.e. naturally occurring crystalline substances. 1. Carnelians - Carnelian is a brownish-red mineral which is commonly used as a semi-precious gemstone. Similar to carnelian is sard, which is generally harder and darker. 2. Chalcedony - A cryptocrystalline form of silica, composed of very fine intergrowths of the minerals quartz and moganite. These are both silica minerals, but they differ in that quartz has a trigonal crystal structure, while moganite is monoclinic. 3. Feldspar - The name given to a group of minerals distinguished by the presence of alumina and silica (SiO2) in their chemistry. This group includes aluminum silicates of soda, potassium, or lime. It is the single most abundant mineral group on Earth. 4. Gypsum Crystals - It can be used as a fertilizer, is the main constituent in many forms of plaster and in blackboard chalk, and is widely mined. A massive fine-grained white or lightly tinted variety of gypsum, called alabaster, has been used for sculpture by many cultures. 5. Jasper - The all seeing eye is associated with God Horus. Also called the knot of Isis. 6. Lapis Lazuli - A deep blue semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color. Lapis beads have been found at Neolithic burials in Mehrgarh, the Caucasus, and even as far from Afghanistan as Mauritania. 7. Malachite - A bright green mineral consisting of copper hydroxyl carbonate. It typically occurs in masses and fibrous aggregates with azurite and is capable of taking a high polish. 8. Peridots - A well-known and ancient gemstone, with jewelry pieces dating all the way back to the Pharaohs in Egypt. The gem variety of the mineral Olivine, it makes a lovely light green to olive-green gemstone. 9. Tiger's Eye - A chatoyant gemstone that is usually a metamorphic rock that is a golden to red-brown color, with a silky luster. A member of the quartz group, it is a classic example of pseudomorphous replacement by silica of fibrous crocidolite (blue asbestos). An incompletely silicified blue variant is called Hawk's eye. 10. Turquoise - It is rare and valuable in finer grades and has been prized as a gem and ornamental stone for thousands of years owing to its unique hue. Owing to artists wanting to make things more ornate and not have to experience the difficulty in working with the Amulets mentioned, Faience was invented. Faience is a type of man-made glass. Faience was typically used for color beads and small inlays. Faience was thought to glisten with a light that was symbolic of life, rebirth and immortality. The ancient Egyptians used faience not only to make jewelry, amulets and talismans but also to make fabulous vessels, furniture, ritual equipment, tiles, ankhs, scepters and figurines. The glass faience was easier to work with than the harder gemstones and ancient Egyptian artisans became so adept at crafting glass bead versions of precious and semi-precious stones that it was difficult to distinguish authentic emeralds, pearls and tigers-eye from faience.

So after doing some research it seems that certain crystals are good for things like strengthening your aura and balancing energy and repelling negative energies. What do you all think of this? Im not talkkng about relying on them but allowinf them to amplify what i'm already doing. Just getting your opinions on this. Hail Satan!
