Changes to User Fields on the Forums

I have made a few more changes to the forums just due to recent abuse by trolls.

  • When uploading a profile photo, there is a reminder to not upload anything that could identify you.

    • If you see someone who appears to have uploaded their real face, please report the account.

  • The date of birth field is removed entirely from view because people were using their real birthdays.

  • The "Location" field has been removed going forward.

    • If you have one set already, it will not be removed, however it is no longer editable.

    • If you want to change your location just send me a DM. Yes it is a pain, shame it was being abused.

  • The "Website" field remains. If you see someone who has a spam link in their profile, report the post or the account.

  • Newly registered accounts cannot set signatures, send DMs, set profile header photos, make profile posts, vote on polls, upload attachments.

    • These restrictions were mostly the same as previously stated but it's worth noting again for visibility.

    • New users must make 50 approved posts to be able to access these functions. If there are extreme exceptions, email me.

This is good to see as I recall many top-notch members had great frustration with trolls in the past. This place has improved exponentially since that time and I'm forever grateful for the admirable work.

To members who are new, 50 posts is quite forgiving. It may feel like a nuisance to a few but remember that all great things come with time. Effort and forethought must come before full execution/realization can be achieved.

As of now I'm shocked how fast those posts can fly by. I missed celebrating my 666th post as there were too many superior comments to respond to at the time. I'm nowhere close in typing skill compared to members like FancyMancy, Gearshift and OneWirePhenomenon. Some of their posts a remarkable to me.

PS - don't quote me but isn't it true that the latter two belong to the same user? I could be thinking of other accounts though I do recall someone mentioned that they have a second account... maybe Ninrick? The memory escapes me. 🤣

I think I will break the 50 threshold today and now be able to update my signature to reflect the proper TOZ links. I did put the website in my location recently. Hail Zeus!!!
