After Forums Upgrade: How to Access Your Ancient Forums Account (or "Incorrect Password" errors)

AvatarApolloAbove [SG]3 min to read
This thread is pinned, seriousness is required.

We have a new login system, and this will be the standard going forward. You will have one "Temple of Zeus" account going forward for all Temple of Zeus sites.

If you are having trouble logging in to your forum account after the site upgrade, please follow the steps below.

If you have ever made an account on Vultus Templorum or the new ToZ Translation tool, you already have an account, and it should be linked! However, if you have not, your Ancient Forums account may not be linked yet.

As of now, the number of sites that have this new login system are: ancient-forums.com, astroapollo.org, Temple of Zeus translation tool, and vultustemplorum.org

When accessing the new system, you must use the same email address that is on file for your forum account. If the emails match, your account will link automatically and all of your posts will be there.

Step by Step

2. Click Log In or Sign Up

3. Register using the exact email address that was associated with your original forum account

4. Once you log in, you should see your existing username and all your posts

Incorrect Password Error

IF YOU ARE UNSURE WHAT TO DO, DO THIS STEP. If you have the right email for AF, but are hitting this error. Please find the "Forgot Password" option and go through with this.

Remember, this will be your new "Temple of Zeus" linked account and password. You can use this same email and password on other Temple of Zeus services.

If You Used a Different Email (or have old alt accounts)

If you already registered with a different email and ended up with a blank account (0 posts, registered in 2026), that means the system could not match you to your original account. Do not worry. Your original account and all of its content still exist. DM me on here or on VT and I will get it sorted.

If You No Longer Have Access to Your Original Email, or You Still Need More Help

If the email on your old forum account is expired or inactive, or you haven't verified it yet, you will not be able to self-link.

Contact me with the following information and I will get it fixed:

- Your original forum username

- The email address you are using now

- Any details that help us verify you are the account owner.

Nothing Has Been Lost

The upgrade just changed how you log in, and does not change the accounts themselves. Every account is still in the system exactly as it was. It is only a matter of connecting your new login to the right account.

HAIL ZEUS!
HAIL HERA!

I just made a new password. And it still makes me open a new tab, and try to sign into the email to get a number code from the email every time. I don't know what the point of making the password even is if I still need to go to the email every time.

I come here all throughout the day while I am working. Maybe only for a couple minutes then have to put it away. This was fine before when I could log in in only 5 seconds with my user name being auto filled on the spell check suggested text, and only taking 5 seconds to type in my password. Now it takes 5 minutes waiting for all of these different websites to load, waiting for the email website to load, waiting for the email to log in just to get the number. All of this is extremely inconvenient. Especially because for most of the day I am in locations with extremely bad phone service, so each thing may take a very long time to load if it even loads at all.

There also is no more notifications to say when people have replied to a topic that I have commented on. Even when a person directly hit reply under my message, there is no way for me to know this.

There is no more page that lists all of the unread topics or all topics with new replies that I haven't seen yet. This was the only page I ever used. There is something kind of like this, but it lists all recent activity to list every time somebody wrote a reply. So the same topic will be on the list 5 times if 5 people replied to it recently. And the total list only shows a few things, so any other unread topic I am unable to find and unable to see.

There also is only dark mode now. It was the default before, but at least in settings I was able to change it to light mode. Now I can't. I have a physical problem with my eyes that makes it very difficult to read on dark mode. It is even very difficult now in a room with perfect lighting, and will be nearly impossible when I am outside with very bright light which I often am.

I am not trying to complain. These things are being done by the greatest and most important people on Earth who I have the highest respect for, so I have to trust it.

But it is only an example of trying to make things look better, or trying to add some new small features that I don't use anyway, and in the process making everything much more difficult to use and removing the features that I did use. Like in the last big update that removed the preview and made it difficult to view how a post would look, and made all of the menus or pages more complicated with more options that I did not look at anyway, like recent activity or profile posts, and made it more difficult to find Unread Topics list. Well now that unread topics page looks like it is gone completely.

I do not care how simple looking or "ugly" people might think something looks as long as it works and it is very easy to use and functional. I also don't care how fancy something looks or how many bells and whistles are added, if it does not work as well or it is more difficult to use. Artists are great adding beauty to the world, but I would not choose an artist to fix my car because mostly I care for my car to work, before anything else.

I don't like this system of replies going under individual comments instead of going to the end. It will make it very difficult to read topics that a lot of people are replying to because all of the new replies will be mixed in with all of the old ones that we already read. It will be very hard to find what are the new replies. Questions will go unanswered and things like that as new replies are lost mixed together with everything.

It is meant to be easier to have a conversation with those that replies to you. It will take time to adapt. Lets give it a month.

You can say both ways. You can say that this could be better for this reason. I could say that there are real problems that this causes. I see that this is a way that will cause many messages to be lost and not seen. I do not see the reverse problem of being difficult to see anybody replying to you, because in the old system we get a notification for this and when clicking on it it takes us immediately to the new message.

When all new messages are put at the bottom, and you click on the topic it immediately brings you to the bottom to the first message that you haven't seen yet. This is as easy as it could possibly be and ensures that nothing is missed.

We have some topics ongoing that are literally several hundreds or even thousands of replies in one same topic, where there can be 100 pages of 50 posts each. Nothing is lost, nothing is mixed up, and nothing is missed. We click and it instantly goes to the new post.

Now with this new system, when a new comment is posted and we go to view it, it does not take us to the new post and doesn't even take us to the page. We have to sort through 100 pages of 5,000 posts trying to find which one is new. It is a mess. I am not saying this for no reason, but I say it because it is the truth. People think I am just complaining. As one of the users who spends some of the most time here and writes some of the largest numbers of comments, I have valid and truthful experiences of how some of these changes are causing more problems and making everything much more difficult to use effectively. Usability function and easiness or effectiveness of communication is much worse and more difficult.

And there are only a few people here now commenting. It is like a ghost town. Because it has been made so much more difficult and there are all of these barriers that weren't there before.

I understand what you mean, since I haven't experience it until now, I understand it even more. There could be a thread about what could be made better, maybe there a way to jump into the newest message.

Your last sentence isn't right, the forum have less activity since the vultustemplorum platform has been implanted, not because of the forum change that happended this week.

Hello, I created account with my old email in forums a few years ago. Then I changed my email this year. Today I tried to log in with my new email and I didn't receive verification email so I try my old email and I logged in but it was a new account with no history. I used my old email in element app too
