(This is something what l figured out when l was trying to understand how chakras are related with brain. My conclusion was that left and the right side of brain is corresponding with Ida and Pingala, and that the thalamus is connected with heart chakra)
Physical location of chakras are mapped to particular locations within the brain. Facing down, the human body is horizontally superimposed into the middle of the head as pictured. The legs map to the rear of the brain and down (vertically) into the brain stem. Popularly known major subtle nerves (ida, pingala and sushumna) run horizontally and vertically through the brain creating an energetical tube-like cavity that facilitates advanced development of the divine eye and crown chakra. Thus, the pituitary and pineal glands connect within the thalamus/hypothalamus. This connection eventually completes linkage between all chakras to complete a typically arduous process of universal source alignment. As our physical universe has vertical and horizontal views, so does our microcosm.
