Well, sort of. Being an astral thing, yes, the aura of protection can deflect negative energies. But, since it's also a part of you, sometimes it might guide you or enhance your own intuition.

it depends on what you recite. For example, if you say that your aura is protecting you from anything bad and harmful fom you in a completely natural, healthy and happy way for you then your aura protects you from everything. BUT, that does not mean that when someone tries to hit you he will break his hand, the aura will probably lesser the fights for you and the bad situations you find yourself into.
(Of course, all of these depend on the power and the strength of your aura)

The whole text should be done 9 times. The affirmations are quite long and tedious, but that is to make sure there is absolutely no open end for the energy to go of in. 
Energy always takes the easiest path, so by locking it in and programming it as specifically as possible you can really direct the energy exactly how you want it done. 
After a while you can recite them less than 9 times, but in the beginning it is very useful to do it 9 times because it will program the energy faster. 
I put the inverted commas there so make it easier to read, because it was such a long line of text, but you just start at the beginning and say the whole affirmation (all the text) and then repeat it.
