Any reason for calling people "newbies"?

I thought "Newbies" meant; A person new to computers and computer networks; computer neophyte.  This is used to refer to new people on JOS.  Is there some other definition I didn't see or something?  A “newcomer” is a person or thing that has recently arrived; new arrival. A “novice” is a person who has been received into a religious order or congregation for a period of probation before taking vows.  Why not "novices"?  No big thing for me - just curious.

"Newbie", or the term "noob", simply means someone that is just starting out and is new at something.  It is not offensive because everyone starts there at some point.  Even the biggest experts in a field start out as "noobs" when they first start.  It is something to develop past, and experience does just that.

okay can a call pls
