Answers to my questions?

I'm 18 and I have been able to see things since I can remeber. Everytime I went to a religiouse gathering to figure out why only I could see these things, they made me feel like I was a freak. Like I wasn't normal, I want to know why is it that I am able to see and hear certain things that others can not. I haven't spoken much about it lately because at this age they start to think of you "differently". But I would really appriciate it if someone could help me figure out why it is that I can do this, and if it is for a specific purpose. I also have very vivid dreams and most of them are very dark. I am not afraid of these dreams, but I am curiouse. The things that I see are usually glipses this little girl with long curly dark hair and a tall handsome man with dark hair. I don't see them together, but when I see one of them I can usually expect to see the other very soon. The man I usually see outside of my window or at the foot of my bed. My dog doesn't seem to mind him but she is protective when he approaches. The little girl shy's away from my house and I normaly see her at other places like the movies or when I'm getting coffee. My Ye-Ye had the same thing I have, but they sent her to a mental institution because of the things she saw. Hense why I don't talk much about it. wow. I'm rambling... anyways if anyone could give me a clue point me in the right direction or anything like that, it would be greatly appriciated.
