Ever since I found out Andras is not only one of my Guardians but also my physical ancestor, I've wanted to do research on him and the history he has. Turns out Andras has been show a lot of love all over the world, not just in Europe.
As many here know, Andras is the Greek God Ares, the God of War and agriculture, and the Roman God Mars, but there is a lot more to him than just that.
The Sign of Aries is named after him, and the Romans dedicated Tuesday (Mars day) to him. They also dedicated to him the month of March (which where the name comes from). He is the Patron God of the Romans and the Spartans, and the symbol of power, bravery, and strength.
In Norse religion, he is known as the God Tyr. And his rune is the Tiwaz Rune. Tiwaz as many know, is the Rune of Power, Justice, Law, and Vengeance. And Tyr is actually the root word behind the word tyrant. Tyrant didn't have the negative stereotype it has today, as was associated by a leader approved by Andras fit to rule the people with wisdom and guidance.
In Mesoamerica, he is known to the Incas as the Sun God Inti. Ares is known to have a helmet with a red crest on top, which would later be the helmet for the Roman soldiers. And this was adopted in Mesoamerica for the headdresses of prominent rulers and chiefs.
In Hindu religions, he is known as Kartikeya (or Skanda or Murugan) as the God of War, and chief general of the Gods' armies. Kartikeya is also the name of the fixed star Bellatrix of Orion in Hindu astrology.
Over the course of millennia, much knowledge was destroyed and perverted by the Jews, and many mythologies and interpolations today make Andras look like a bloodthirsty brute, which is far from the truth. While he has been a very dangerous god to the Jews, he has been a source of bravery, inspiration and protection to everyone in the ancient world who has been blessed to get to know him and have civilizations prosper with his guidance and wisdom.
