Let's hypothetically say I was the "enemy" of something and created both false illusions. Why would I destroy any of them? And plot them against each other!? What's the purpose of that? Why would I do a New Age vs. Christianity
You are framing it as if the enemy created both of them at the same time. They did not. One was first and the other was created 2k years later.
Xianity was the older psyop that was created 2k years ago. Traditional xianity has persisted since the mid 20th century, however during that time some major things happened:
1)Esotericism and occultism became popular and people were abandoning xianity because they were interested on esoteric things that xianity said are "evil" and should be banned.
2)Xianity lost much power and influence in the western countries because of freedom of religion.
3)Xianity was considered too outdated and "bigoted" and the enemy was already looking for its replacement.
So the enemy had a new idea, to create the New Age movement to cover those 3 things above: it catered to the people interested in Esoteric teachings and effectively hijacked their interest in them to push modern xian-like teachings under the disguise of esotericism (all the stuff about a cosmic jesus, love, oneness e.t.c.). It was aiming to create a more modern "updated" version of xianity that is conforming to the post war ethos and covers the things that xianity failed to do.
So obviously, as the enemy created the new psyop (New Age), adherents of the older psyop (xianity) didn't want their psyop to be replaced by a new one and resist it even to this day.
But that doesn't mean they weren't created by the same enemy. Just as the Catholics and the Protestants have their differences and even killed each other in the past yet they are both forms of xianity, so is with xianity and the New Age movement. In fact, xians persecuted other xians in the past who disagreed with the dogma of the Catholic church, such as the Arianists, Nestorians e.t.c. They called them "heretics" and burned them to death. Does that mean they weren't xians? Of course not. The same happens with the new age movement as well. Xians basically hate everyone who doesn't subscribe 100% to the church dogma. If you are a xian who agrees with 99% of their dogma but disagree with only 1%, they will still hate you and persecute you anyway.
