It looks great. But it is not easy to use. There are a lot of new problems which make everything much more difficult. Are these problems going to be fixed, or are they a permanent part of the new software?

It is very difficult to log in now with having to go to the email for an access code every time. That is one of the biggest problems. Most of the times that I come here, I am in places with very bad phone service or I may also have only a minute or 2 to look at it while I am working. So having to take several minutes every time to try to log in is much more difficult than it used to be. It is a deterrent from me coming here as much as I want to or as much as I did before because instead of being able to put in my password and glance at it in 5 seconds, now it takes several minutes.

There is also is no page anymore for all Unread Topics so I can't see any of them except for maybe 10 at a time that are shown. This is probably the 2nd biggest problem.

The last big problem for me is a medical problem that might not matter to anybody else. But I have a physical problem with my eyes that makes it very difficult for me to read anything in dark mode. In perfect lighting, dark mode is difficult and painful to read. In worse lighting conditions, it may be impossible. This medical problem developed in the last few years, so I did not have this problem when I was younger reading the old Temple of Zeus website.

The background looks great. The images look great. But these problems are serious that it is much more difficult to use and much less functional than it was before.

Even if you log in just once, your session will be remembered, and you won’t be asked for a code every time. Do you clear your cookies every time you log out of the site? Please let me know, so I can see the issue.

About the dark theme, we are aware some users are having issues with it. We will release the light mode very soon, which hopefully help with the problems you mention.

The update is really big, we improved tons of things but it is very normal that some things may not click instantly, we are doing our best to clear the remaining issues. So please always let me know if you have any other issues other than the above and we will do our best to resolve them.

Thank you very much. I use a private browser app that deletes everything every time that I go out of it so there are no cookies.

There is no remember me option like there used to be. Every day on my PC, I get logged off for some reason, even though no cookies have been touched. On the upside, the login is like a three-second process, but why would I need to log in again and again? Makes no sense.

I am unsure where else to post this, as the forums are taking quite a bit of getting used to. When I was typing a reply to a post and clicked "quote" on the post below it, then went back to typing the reply I had interrupted, what I wrote disappeared. Autosave would be nice, like there used to be.

Another problem with replies going under a message instead of going to the end of the topic. We can't even see them at all if there is more than a few replies. The new ones are hidden. We have to go to some 2nd page that only lists the replies under that one comment and then see the rest. All of this is unnecessary and making everything more difficult than it should be. And is probably contributing to everything being slow because it is trying to load so many different pages.

We introduced replies for a reason, that is to bring another layer of organization to the threads. Before replies, you would see 10 different things being discussed in a thread. It was impossible to keep track of the discussions because there were 10 different things going on at the same time, members quoting each other, and after a point, you would lose the context. It was also making threads useless in the long term, as you would have had to read all of the posts just to find what was valuable to you. We thought about this feature very carefully and decided to bring it.

I understand, at first, this brings a mental overhead because you need to adapt to this new reply system. It can feel easier to just send your messages and come back to them. But think about this, we are now discussing under a message and with this reply, we have 8 replies here. What would happen if all of these were sent as messages and not as replies? Total chaos in the thread, because this is a side discussion, not the main point of the thread.

Now think about this for even more complex sermons, that would require members to ask High Priest countless questions. Now you can basically read the answer from HP as a reply, rather than trying to find it inside the thread, who knows on which page.

Try to see the positive sides of this and you will understand how useful this will become in the long term.

You are always welcome to share your opinions about how we can make this more useful and easier to use. This would be a very constructive act and would allow us to improve this even further for all of the members, rather than rolling back to the previous chaos of the old forums.

We didn't observe speed issues in general, but yes, for certain devices or with slower connections, the forums can feel slower. We will keep improving the speed of the forums, and we are also working on a lite version of the forums, that will be read-only but blazingly fast, to allow members to check the forums even from very old devices or extremely slow internet connections.

This is a valid idea. There is some amount of a benefit from this idea. But I honestly and strongly believe that the harm is larger than the benefit. I respect that you have done a lot of work that was not easy, but I do have real reasons for my opinions based on how things actually are working.

In the old way, when somebody is quoting somebody else, it puts the big quote box in the top of the message. So if you are not interested to see any other discussion or replies to each other, you can instantly and immediately skip past that comment when you see the quote box at the top. I don't think that it takes barely any time or effort to just skip past something and go to the next thing. Anybody who does not want to read any discussion I am having, simply scroll past it when you see a message from me, or a quote box quoting me replying to me.

And anybody who does want to read, it is equally effortless to decide to read it. Each person can instantly make their own choice whether or not they want to see it.

The opposite direction does not exist. With this new system, it is not equally or easily weighted for users to make this choice. I am certain that nobody other than you or Henu will ever see this comment. The three of us who are involved in this discussion will get a notification to know that this comment exists. Nobody else will ever possibly see it.

There are many situations where what is written as a reply to other people are very educational, helpful, and valuable and may contain important knowledge that would help even hundreds of people. I am not saying that every reply is this important, most of them are not like the most important thing ever. But some of them are. Basically the only times where something that is very important and educational and enlightening is the first post in a topic is if it is a Sermon from High Priest Zevios Metathronos.

Almost any other time that a question is answered or some valuable knowledge is shared that can help many people, it is in the form of a question or idea that was said by one person, and was then answered by the valuable and educational replies. And now by default all of the valuable replies will be hidden away where they will never be seen by anybody. It almost defeats the purpose of a forums.

Also very often, there are large conversations and discussions which may have 10, 20, 50 people all participating in and all replying and contributing to the conversation. Not as side tangents or irrelevant things, but as one conversation. This is now absolutely physically impossible by the software. One person may quote another person, but it is not a private individual reply only to that one person. A quote may be used to reply to a specific point or a specific idea, but it is in the context of the larger shared conversation and is really replying to everybody. The software is not able to realize this, and instead every single reply made by every single person is all separated, locked away, and scattered in the wind. It is not a single flowing conversation, it is a 1,000 separate individual boxes where each person's comment is hidden in these other pages and are not together and are not even in chronological order. It is like the tower of babel story. Any large conversation with many people can not exist anymore, where different people have all quoted or replied to each other as a shared discussion. It looks like you have made very few messages, so I wonder how many of these kinds of discussions you have participated in, but these are common.

The idea of it being difficult to remember what page of a topic a valuable educational comment was on. That is true some times. So why make it exponentially worse? Not only you still need to look through all of the pages on a topic to look for the comment, but you will never possibly find it because it is hidden on another page under a different comment. So now you not only need to try to remember the comment that you are looking for, but you need to also remember the original comment that came first that eventually led to the valuable reply. And it may not be obvious how they are related, it might look like it is talking about something else. So you need to look through all of the pages on the topic looking for the original comment that eventually led to a discussion that eventually was replied to with the educational comment. Then again you need to go through all of the separate pages of replies under that first comment to try to find what you were actually looking for. Just to find that it is not there, and it must have actually been under a different original comment so now you are looking through many pages under many different individual comments. It is exponentially worse as now there are recursive groups of many different lists of pages, within each page of the topic. If every single original comment has its own pages of replies under it in every comment in the topic.

A simple solution to all of this is to say that on Sermons from High Priest Zevios Metathronos, nobody should talk about unrelated things and they should be moved to their own topic. Maybe moderators could enforce this or remind people until we all realize to be careful about this. Then the entire problem is solved. And on all other normal topics that are not Clergy Sermons and Articles which is the extreme majority of topics. Just simply leave them alone the way that they have always been which simply works with none of these problems. I do not hate technology and I do not just hate whenever something is changed or made different, that is not what this is about.
