I coughed during a freeing working, will it be ruined? Because a cough is technically a vibration.
And what if someone walk's in and I have to respond? Does this destroy the working?

Coughing is fine, it is not a vibration for magick. Cough, ignore it, and continue.
If someone walks in, try to "hold" the working, interact, then continue when they leave. I've done this before, it can be annoying but it's part of life. If they stay for a while then it could ruin the working, so you might have to will that energy to dissipate and start again.
HP Lydia is right. I hate when this happens too though! Lol I sneezed during vibrations for a square and lost count so I had to cancel it out and redo the vibrations an hour later!

One time my hand twitched and lost my place on my mala, had to restart. So annoying, lol.

How do I know if it's ruined or not? And does the same apply to Squares, or is there less leeway?
There is less leeway with squares.
To know if a working is ruined or not, you should be able to feel it when you tune into it.
