According to some folks, 11 was of old a number suggesting resurrection. Apparently 9 was completeness, 10 (with its transition from 1 to 0) death, and 11 a new incarnation. In any case, I never heard that 11 was somehow unlucky. I was born on the 11th myself and have scarcely been dogged by mishap
