Besides a quiz that leads to buying books, it doesn't explain on what to do in order to reach that.

I'm not sure if any noise cancelling ear plugs are able to cancel noise completely, but it should reduce it enough that going into trance states are much more comfortable.

I'll explain what this is all about. It's about training, controlling and directing attention. This is a level of concentration where you are not aware of your surroundings, obviously this skill takes practice.

HPS Pythia talked about reaching this level of concentration, also she said that you should not be disturbed ..physically touched by people or pets..both for meditation in general and especially for trance and advanced meditations.

Basically that is a natural outcome of fixating upon something else other than your regular circular awareness in meditation.

If your electric body expands in meditation, your senses will know only of that, and withdraw from anything else.

If you position your consciousness upon something very intently and immersed, you merge with that, and withdraw from the material present senses and they go "there".

It is a matter of immersion and direction.

This can be done selectively with the senses, restrictively, whole or in a controlled fashion. One can also enter within, and the outside becomes a far away place. And so on.

If one is connected with the outside, the outside can dictate and activate/stimulate/trigger. If you are connected only to the inside, the inside will dictate everything to the senses.

Spirituality is a very beautiful thing. Matter is not all that the Universe and Nature have to offer. Chemistry, which is of course the science that studies matter, says that almost all the mass of an atom is in the nucleus i.e. protons and neutrons but these occupy very little space in an atom, which means there are other things as well.

I do not want to deviate from the topic but I want to point out this scientific fact. Also, what extraordinary capabilities consciousness has!

I have earplugs from the brand mentioned, although a different version. I am not sure how these exactly are different but I can tell you this:
Unless something is obnoxiously loud to begin with (like slamming a door shut), you won't hear it.

Although Ive had to double down on ear protection for some quiet because they were grinding metal right across the street or something.
Meaning. I do have a pair of over the ear earmuffs that I used along with the earplugs back then.

But sounds like ticking clock, running fridge, normal talking with the door shut (given you don't have paper walls), should be completely or almost completely blocked out.

And like said, it really depends on where you put your focus, too.

If you do need to have some background noise you can try looking for things like "zen garden" "bamboo flute" "campfire" "rain and thunder" on youtube and you should find videos of an hour or longer with just sounds of these things. Its better background noise than just some "populair" music or movie.
With very little to no risk of subconciously programming yourself with bad things.

But I prefer silence, helps me concentrate better, unless I'm doing a meditation and I need some background noise to cancel out noises in the house.
