Depends on what kind of cleaning you are doing. If you happen to want to increase solar energy which would be indirect form of cleaning then you would want to go with waxing Moon. I believe a short read from witchcraft section on ToZ would help you out.

However, how come in returning curses part 1 we are instructed to use a waxing moon, even though it is cleaning?

Thanks, and see, that's what I assumed due to the nature of the working. However, I was thrown off by the returning curses part 1, which is deep cleaning, and that we are instructed to start during a waxing moon.

Since this relates to purification, I believe a Waxing moon is better, as described in the post on the Witch's Sabbath. As this relates to purity, additional signs of Virgo and perhaps Leo could be useful.

I think it is a little confusing as to why a Waning moon would not be better, since that relates to removal, but this moon phase has been repeated by both HPZM and HPS Pythia. Within the page on RC1, HPS Pythia describes the act as an "aura of protection", yet the action itself, for part 1, is just cleaning.

Okay, so to clarify: purification should be done on a waxing moon, even though it seems like a removal.

You can simply just type in the current moon phase in whatever search engine your using.

By using the calendar and looking up to the sky if the Moon is visible. And very sensitive people can even feel this.
