You shield the innocent, refracting light to truth.
O, terrible law, before sound was charted,
You keep the secrets of the trembling-hearted.
O, powerful law, we forge within Your order,
You temper Heracles to hold the border.
O, beautiful law, the measured depths of reason,
You make us, shape the soul in turning seasons.
