Crescent moon does not mean anything. It is either Waxing, Waning or Full Moon.
Since this person is going to try to do this after Mars Retrograde is over, they should use Waning Moon. Scorpio, Capricorn should be fine.

Your affirmation is fine, but perhaps you might want to add "I am now safe, secure and free of suffering." But it depends on you.
