What was that planet and what did it do?

Phaeton was a planet in our solar system whose fate was to be wiped out forever by enemy forces. What remains of that planet is just a ring of space rocks, i.e., asteroids, orbiting in space between Mars and Jupiter.
Sadly, there are many other planets in our galaxy that have incurred the same fate due to enemy malignancy.
