Question #2650: Karma

This is very damaging to the body and the soul. It creates enormously higher chances of having depression or other emotional problems in the next lifetime. It can also create physical health problems related to the way the death happened. And it causes a lot of pain, weakness, and bad energy into the soul. Basically however difficult this current lifetime is, the next lifetime could become twice as bad or even worse.

The correct thing to do is to work on healing yourself. Work on removing as many of your problems as you can, or at least making them smaller. If you put this effort, your life will start to become better and it is possible to heal and to end up having a very good life. And this growth and healing will carry into the next lifetime and will make your next lifetime very much easier and more comfortable than your current lifetime.

It is a choice of do you want to heal and remove your pain permanently, which may be difficult work at first but all of your future lifetimes will all be much easier and happier. Or do you want to give up and stop working now, but your future lifetimes will be much more painful and difficult. Suicide just a horrible idea, and I have never heard of anybody who survived this who was not absolutely regretting it.

The only time suicide is a reasonable idea is if there is absolutely no other choice. Like when somebody is imprisoned and being tortured every day for the rest of their lives, then it might be a better option. But this is a very rare and unlikely thing.
