A silly random post, but I'm simply overjoyed that our amazing coders/mods/etc incorporated keyboard shortcuts in the new forums. I love these things and I've had a great love for them since my elementary days. Here's a few that I know of that are functional and working.

Ctrl+C: Copy.
Ctrl+V: Paste.
Ctrl+A: Select All.
Ctrl+B: Bold
Ctrl+I: Italics
Ctrl+Z: Undo
Ctrl+Y: Redo (undoes the action of Ctrl+Z)
Ctrl+Enter: Post thread. This also works in most emails to send a message.

One that is missing that I think might be a good addition is a shortcut to increase/decrease font size. In notepad this is Ctrl+(plus/minus); however this increases and decreases the size of all text in most browsers (Ctrl+0 for default). Sometimes Ctrl+Shift+(plus/minus) works in some programs.

For the sake of it I'll add a few other useful shortcuts for those interested in making things fun and easy. Most of you probably know these already but I figure someone may reap some benefit from these. Mind you this is PC/Windows. Mac uses a different system (command key).

Ctrl+(left/right arrow keys): Highlights text one alphanumeric character at a time.
Ctrl+Shift+(left/right arrow keys): Highlights a string of characters at a time.
Ctrl+L: Highlights address bar in browser.
Ctrl+T: Opens a new tab
Ctrl+Shift+T: Reopens all closed tabs. This works after accidentally closing your browser window.
Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+Shift+Tab: Cycles back and forth between open tabs.
Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+Shift+Tab: Cycles between open windows.
Ctrl+N: Opens a new window.
Ctrl+F: Find. This is very helpful when reading studies and looking for keywords. Start typing and you will see words becoming highlighted. If you press the tab key, it will highlight the 'up' arrow. Pressing enter (or spacebar) will activate it, highlighting the next body of text from your search. Pressing tab again will bring you to the 'down' arrow (the one I tend to use most).
Alt+W: Closes current tab or current window.
Alt+F4: Closes all current tabs or current open window. When at the desktop, this brings up the shutdown menu where you can hit enter to shutdown, or down-arrow+enter for restart.
Win+D: Minimizes all open windows.
Win+L: Lock screen.
Win+(semicolon): Emojis! You can type words like 'happy'. Use the 'tab' key and left/right arrow keys to cycle through options and enter to select them.
Win+(plus/minus: Magnifer. Very useful when using programs that have very small text, like DAWs (digital audio workstations).
Page up/Page down: Moves up/down one page.
Home/End: Goes to the top or bottom of all pages.
Win key: Opens the start menu (bottom left, on the taskbar). Here you can type the name of any program or file and press enter to open it.

Another neat thing I learned that's good for research is "double-quotations". If you use these in a search engine, text within the quotations appear in the results as "must be included", meaning it won't give you results without these word(s).

With all these shortcuts I seriously don't even use a mouse anymore. Just mousekeys for that very rare left/right mouse click. A mouse can be quite vital for creative applications mind you.

Any thoughts or additions are welcome. Thank you all for your amazing work on these new forums!!! Truly, it's above and beyond!!! 🔥

Darn it lol! Typo on the first one on the second list - highlight text. I meant to put Shift+(left/right arrow keys). Ctrl+(left/right arrow keys) jumps between strings of text.

Does anyone know if you can still edit a post? That might help me out because I tend to be a perfectionist. :-/

Jeez, I noticed another one... Alt+Tab/Alt+Shift+Tab (cycle open windows).

Sorry about that. I need to work on my proofreading. 😳

One final one (I think that's all of them). I just noticed it after revisiting what I wrote.

Winkey+Tab (cycles open windows or programs). I apologize for my terrible editing (putting the horse before the carriage).

I'm finding that patience is more than just a virtue. Rather, it's an entire way of life.
