Managing Deceit in the Workplace

Recently I have been pushed by the Gods and especially my Guardian Demon Andras to leave my workplace, as I was deceived by my boss and various people in management. I went there out of curiosity to be involved in electrical engineering and some IT work but I was strung along and the goal posts kept moving further, and had many false promises thrown my way.

I quickly rose to become very gifted, and many of the people there would bring me up in casual conversation for whatever reason.

I had met the successful owner of the company, shook hands with many important businessmen and had alot of good conversations, I definitely learned alot in my time there, but what this post is meant to highlight is just how important it is to learn to gauge deceit and when one is getting fucked over.

Close to a year of my time was wasted, I had definitely grown from this, but I was deliberately limited in my growth and pushed aside so that I would not gain any sort of decent position there unless I worked for many years, and even then this would not have been guaranteed, and likely my efforts would have been not appreciated.

I am making this post to let people know, if it seems to good to be true, it probably is. This applies to many things in life unfortunately.

In closing, I feel a bit conflicted about this. While yes I am glad I will be going off to find better opportunities in life, I was very comfortable and thought this could have been a long term career. The reality though is this very comfort can destroy us if we contend with it for too long, we need to see things as they are.

The system is structured in such a way that one is penalized for not job hopping. Gone are the days of working for the same company for 50 years, climbing the ladder and retiring with a gold watch and title. There is a certain incentive to professional promiscuity.

Companies do not really want to invest in their employees anymore, it's more economical to poach employees from other companies who have already been vetted and trained and given experience in the field.

I heard a statistic that people who stay in jobs for 2 years or more make an average of 20% less than people who hop. Personally, I find that I get bored with a job after 6-12 months anyway, but tend to stay because of the stability & resume padding, and also hoping for advancement(which never really comes unless I pursue other opportunities myself).

You are also dependent on the quality of the company leadership. It is a bit rare to have bosses who seek and cultivate potential in their employees.

There is also a problem when it comes to being too good at your job. Being too good at being a cog, just ensures that you will remain a cog. Especially if you manage to do the work of other cogs on top of your own.

There is a reason you don't always see top performers getting promoted. Sometimes it is rather useless people.

I am glad that you were able to move on from this situation, but I wonder if your closing statements show that the deceit has shaken your trust, which I find sad for that to occur. In general, we shouldn't need to be always on edge; it was normal for you to want to feel comfortable around people that were obligated to be honest with you.

I hope that you are now able to really blossom with this obstacle out of the way. Perhaps when some time has passed, you can leave a review of your experience for other potential employees on the websites which host these.

To me, a company should be able to cultivate real value out of an employee who stays with them for such a long time, giving actual meaning to their experience and time invested. This culture of just trashing or practically enslaving people for labor seems like a total breakdown of not just trust, but management and ethics.

Truthfully I am just very angry, I have spend much of my life trying to get ahead and provide a better future for my children, my partner and help out my parents when I can. I am very limited physically in my strength, and I deal with alot of fatigue from the fibromyalgia. Thankfully though I have a tcm herbal tonic I will be using for this.

I don't mean to digress, but the reality of this is I have remained afloat in life by the skin of my teeth. The Gods and personal workings have been helpful, but the extent I struggle with just functioning, driving, and everything having to do with existence I'd wish on no one.

This situation I also take a bit personally, as my boss was a friend of my father, and my dad always spoke highly of this man and his family, and he knowingly fucked me over for seemingly no reason at all, when I worked harder then most other employees, and just dragged me along with false promises because he could.

Or perhaps he felt threatened? I am not so sure.

In this case of someone becoming that good, it's a good thing. That way they can grow experience and then just leave to start a business or pursuit other endeavors. Getting that good with something can help a person reach great heights in life from what I understand.
