Discussion On Runes - What Runes Do You Use and Why?

Hello everyone,

I've been getting quite into the use of runes these last couple years with some interesting results. Despite my experience with them, I am still getting surprised by some of the things people use them for. Especially when the reasoning behind the manner they are being used is not a conclusion I would come to after reading their descriptions.

So all of us and myself can continue to learn about the runes, please answer the following:

• What runes do you use?
• What purpose are you wanting these runes to serve?
• What is your justification for using these runes in the way that you are?
• Success/Failure examples?
• What does a typical session to empower them for your purpose consist of?
• Any general advice for a particular rune?

Although I experiment with almost all the runes from time to time, my answers to these questions for the runes I use on a regular basis are as follows:
Unless otherwise stated; Justification for my uses of these runes in the manner that I use them in stems from their basic descriptions on JOS or the website RuneSecrets. Occasionally I will speak to the gods to confirm whether a use I have in mind for a particular rune would be effective.

My sessions consist of starting by empowering the chakras and opening them. Before settling in surrounded by large geometrically precise drawings of the runes that I have made, along with papers with my affirmations written on them so I can be more consistent between sessions. I will then hold the drawing of the rune I wish to empower on my lap, while throat chanting/vibrating the runes name. While doing this, I visualize it where and how it needs to be inside me or wherever in the world, directing energy into it till the point where its brighter than the sun and expanding across my astral vision. This is an intense process physically and psychically for me as I put the force of my entire being into it. Every 5 or 10 vibrations I will direct my affirmations into where I'm visualizing it, repeating them a few times before proceeding for another set of vibrations. Once I have done as many sets as I have time for, for each of the runes I was using, I will then use Sowilo to empower the ones used, visualizing its energy slipping into the energy of the previous runes and brightening them even further, occasionally doing the same with Dagaz to speed up its manifestation. Additionally, if my mind is particularly chaotic, I will use Isa to bind my thoughts away during, or after to avoid my thoughts from influencing the energy I have sent out.

• Sowilo
  
  • To generally empower my soul and will, become successful in my actions, and to empower other runes in a particular working. Occasionally I will just sit and meditate on Sowilo for a few hours, indulging in the sensation that flooding myself with its energy brings.
  • I've had nothing but success with this rune, its effects come on quite fast when using it on yourself, coming with physical sensations affirming its effectiveness., particularly while in sunlight.
  • As for its use to empower other runes, I can only assume its been helpful.
  • In combination with Wunjo and Isa, I find it to be extremely effective at instantly calming overwhelming stress or anxiety. Sowilo's purpose in this combination is to give you the willpower and strength to simply not care about something.
  • In combination with Dagaz, I find the pair to be synergetic for the purposes of speeding along the manifestation of other runes.
• Algiz
  
  • To protect myself or something else from negative influences.
  • In combination with Isa, the pair can be excellent at protecting things. My rationale for this comes from something I learned while studying military tactics; The best defense is remaining undetected. Thus Isa to keep something hidden, Algiz to protect if discovered.
  • For use in protecting things outside of my immediate sphere of awareness, I can only assume its been helpful.
  • As for use in protecting myself, other than occasionally invoking its energies in myself following a meditation; When I suspect a physic attack, I visualize its energy scanning through my soul, followed by a cleansing fire in its wake to purge outside influence. Followed by surrounding myself by an expanding bubble of its energy. This usually does the trick immediately.
  • Additionally, I have carved it onto objects of value before empowering the carving. I once had my house broken into where my wallet and laptop were stolen. These things had Algiz carved into them by myself. a couple months later I randomly stumbled upon these things abandoned on a train on the other end of town, no damage or anything missing.
• Ehwaz
  
  • To enhance and secure my relations with other people. For the purposes of Love and otherwise. When used for love, I prefer it over more binding runes as to respect free will as much as possible. I see it as enhancing what's already there, or what could be there, rather than seeking absolute control over someone.
  • I use it in combination with many runes to enhance a particular aspect of a relationship.
  • I've seen mild success with it, using it for the purposes I am requires diligence in the absence of binding runes. Nonetheless success, I've noticed shifts in the dynamics between myself and the recipients.
• Ansuz
  
  • To enhance my ability to communicate in an effective, on the go, and interesting manner, or to enhance communication between myself and others.
  • I find it difficult to express my thoughts when not in a professional setting. I have the thoughts I need to have, but find myself unable to put them into words, particularly when in social settings or while discussing sensitive topics. I vibrate it into my throat chakra when using it on myself, Or use it as a bridge to connect the throat chakra of myself and another individual.
  • Since using it, I've noticed a change in my ability to form words and continue a conversation, especially when needing to have a difficult conversation. I'm still nowhere near where I want to be, but the direction its heading is desirable.
• Gebo
  
  • For ensuring my efforts ar not for nothing, or to enhance the mutual exchange of energy between myself and others.
  • This is a a bit of a finnicky rune to use. The scope of your affirmations and intentions need to be extremely well defined with it in my experience. For example, if youre working towards a particular goal backed by Gebo, and say you take a break from working towards this goal, it seems to interpret this break time as you not caring about the goal. Not for every purpose I've used it for, but that seems to happen from time to time. Thus I recommend including something in your affirmations to specify against something like this.
  • It works well with many other runes when trying to obtain a goal that another rune may be related to.
  • I can only assume its been successful as since using it, I've had less failures despite my best efforts for certain things. Its hard to say for certain though. Success definitely seems to be more noticeable when used with other runes.
• Wunjo
  
  • For boosting my mood or working on my depression. Also making others happy, or improving my ability to make others happy.
  • (See Sowilo) In combination with Sowilo and Isa, it is extremely effective at quickly reducing the severity of anxiety and depression. Wunjo's use in this combination is to treat the underlying cause of these feelings.
  • As for long term success, I'm not sure. I'm generally an unhappy person with a lot of issues, and I usually don't get along well with others. More work is needed here.
• Isa
  
  • For binding/hiding unwanted thoughts and feelings
  • (See Wunjo and Sowilo) In this combination I have mentioned previously. Isa's purpose is to numb the negative feelings.
  • Good for when your mind is too cluttered to effectively void for a working.
  • I haven't really used this one in binding another person. That seems to be a popular use however.
  • Cant speak to long term success as my only uses for it are in the moment.
• Dagaz
  
  • For making someone realize something or speeding along the manifestation of the objective of a working.
  • Compared to when I don't use this rune after many sessions of a working, the manifestation takes a lot longer. Care should be taken to not use it for this purpose prematurely, otherwise the energy you have sent out will be consumed before reaching a point where it can be effective.

By any chance would it in the future as I do plan on doing an Ansus working. I'm using one to free my soul for negative programming physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and sexual negative programmings.

Curious question in your affirmation would you like something along the lines of.

Speechcraft(RPG/MMORPG term with real life implications detailing body language, communication abilities, self-/external- expression, range of voice, etc.etc). Think of speechcraft as an umbrella term for communicating it's not just simply speech it's how it's delivered.

My speechcraft abilities are growing, evolving, and progressing forevermore in healthiest and most positive way/ways for me.

I figure the other day I was thinking over my affirmations. And someone said life is like a leveling system you add levels or experience to yourself. For example You CAN use the word Godlike, befitting of a God. And that is good but what if your limited, what IS Godlike.

So for example in the example above you would use growing, evolving, and progressing because at some point you may appear to posses Godlike attributes but your learning and evolving.

I understand well one of is the affirmations can be to the point or direct.

I COULD state My speechcraft is Godlike(assuming like an umbrella term) can even add Perfect(Perfect is not the absolute zenith stop all progress and evolution rather quite the opposite. Posses ever growing, evolving, and progressing speechcraft forevermore at an extreme level).

So I assume YES you COULD state Godlike and Perfect i.e. a gross extreme speechcraft while continuously developing. But there might be a problem whereby realistically you gotta be at a level.

Again I've struggled with affirmation overthinking and overcontemplation.

I thoroughly enjoyed your descriptions. And shall think it over.

Also I want to ask how is your visualization/imagination of these runes and processes? Spending several hours seems extreme. Maybe 5-10 minutes or so is better.

Do you visualize in a deep prominent manner it sounds to me like your visualizing is great.
