What's Currently Still Being Fixed After Migration

OMG why is there a "oven" reaction :ROFLMAO:, is it like the "fire" reaction but even better. So when someone makes a SUPER DOPE post or comment we can react with oven. Or wait, maybe that would be for trolls, to throw them into the oven.
Then we need reaction scale from good to awesome: like, fire, lava, idk, SUN maybe?
Oh wow, I just love these new forums, did I mention that before?

Hello again,

I'm not sure if this is redundant at this point, but I noticed that quoting a post after the platform update seems to make the function of moving onto the quoted post work, but the same is not true for the posts before the update. Sorry, it cuts off in the end, but you can see that the feature in question is functional in the last post.

Thank you for your help. I didn't see the text box at the bottom, because when I click to reply to a message this shows a different text box under the message. And the quotes from what I tried to highlight were not in here when I tested that.

Still wish I didn't have to scroll around all over the page and click all these different buttons everywhere just to show something that was always instantly shown before. Having to do all of these steps is not easier or improved compared to not having to do any of this before.
It is the same text box, you can just click "Quote" and then "Reply" and it'll have the exact same result. Clicking "Reply" will automatically scroll all the way down.

Somebody must have changed something. Now when I click reply on a message, the quote is shown correctly like it used to be. I am thankful for your help, and anybody who changed something to make this work now.

I would put a happy face here, but it looks like I can't do that anymore. The happy face was not such an important feature for me to be disappointed without it, but I did like to use it sometimes.

I'm trying to be optimistic. ...

I was shocked by the different look of the forums too.. Maybe I've been sleeping under a rock but some things are just too.. different. I don't think I'll be using it like most people, then again, I never did that with social media anyway..

-~-~-~-
Just curious (haven't tried to see if this is a possibility).. In the 'about yourself' that'd be public to people right? Would it be possible to post things that are from yourself .. like maybe a book list or something? Maybe not in the 'about you' section but if it were possible to put some text on your own profile or a post that you yourself made to yourself? uhhhh I am probably sounding really confusing here.

Greetings everyone,

I come with great news, the forum's email functionality has been fixed! If you have not been able to access your account, please attempt a password reset.

If you are still not able to access your account, send me an email.

If you have already sent me one, please be patient, as I have quite a few tasks to balance.

Thank you for restoring my account! :D
Also I am curios, the new forum is really nice but what's with the likes, trophies and date of birth requirement, given the fact that the forum is used for spiritual people to advance and just that shouldn't had been kept simple like the old one?

Date of birth is not a requirement. It was also in the previous forums too btw.

Likes are for if people don't want to write a reply, but can give a quick reaction. If you read through the thread by HPHC announcing this new forum, you'll see more about it. :)

(I personally don't like the trophies either as it will encourage attention-seeking, but it's only a few trophies and all the other features are useful.)

Where are you trying to post the sermons? Also, are there any attachments or anything that may interfere? Try to post different variations, like half the sermon, or without pictures. Also try to post it on your personal profile and see if it goes through that way.
I'm trying to post the translated sermons in the Italian section. I've did like you said: Yes, if I split the sermon in multiple messages the server accepts it. However, it is also a method that requires a lot of time, because of the message approval system.

You can change the visibility of certain elements in the settings.

Greetings all. I hope you are enjoying the new forums.

First, if you need help recovering your account still, please contact me. To those of you who contacted me recently, please check your inboxes.
The forum migration may have reverted your username to a previous one, so try logging in with your old username first, and then requesting a username change within your profile settings.

As of right now we are still working on:
- EDIT: EMAIL HAS BEEN FIXED. TRY REQUESTING A PASSWORD RESET IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET INTO YOUR ACCOUNT!
- Coloring issues with some website elements not being very visible
- Nobody was intentionally stripped of mod powers or "rank." If you are unable to do something you used to be able to, please email.

In the future:
- More themes for everyone to choose from
- More reactions and different emojis to use

Thank you for your patience.
I logged in on phone but I can't log in on laptop. It says "password incorrect" Maybe I have forgotten it. Can a Mod email me my current password?

First of all I want to thank you for restoring my account!. I was a little shocked at first with the changes on this website! But then as I got into it and started looking at things! It actually become fun! It's nice that I can post pictures on here which was something that I could not do before! And I think it's nice that I can put likes and hearts and emojis! Being the kind of girly girl I was back in the days! I love to put stickers on everything and I also have a few sticker albums as well! And I like the fact that you can post and pin and paste and copy on here! Plus it's easy to share videos as well! I like this new format! And I am having lots of fun with it! Trying to figure things out and working my way around. Befriending people and those of interest! Reading and sharing each other's stories! And having something to say? It makes it easier to be able to get on here and talk to somebody and have a conversation about their post or their article! And to be able to voice and share your opinion on it. I LOVE IT!!!❤️🙂

I have a question. I switched accounts back in the day and that one is on a different email. Would it be possible to link them together? Or do I have to clarify that on both of the accounts separately (like add it in the signature or something)?

I didn't want it to be linked back in the day for *reasons* but I somewhat changed my mind. I am not sure if it would be a good choice to do so or not but I just want to know if it is possible.
Greetings everyone, ...

Using the main Search function doesn't seen work to find content in replies, only main threads, specifically.

This problem of old links seems mostly fixed but only for topic links - linking to old replies like the one is that example still do not work.

Sometimes linking to an old reply will redirect to the start of the topic.

This ratio:
Captura de tela de 2024-01-13 13-48-22.png

to the title of a sub-forum or a topic seems a bit too tall for my taste, maybe make each table cells a bit shorter if possible if this doesn't squeeze text. I imagine new people who doesn't speak English clicking on their country's forum link and being confused with so much English text just before the main body. I assume the "Welcome" box will disappear at some point as well.

Another thing I noticed as a problem, is that If you scroll down, you have no way to see which topic are you watching right now. There is no title of replies anymore, no "RE:...", or something, it would be great if it would display somewhere the title of the topic I am watching right now, so that I know.

All old links should work now, just put in a fix. Please test it further and let me know.

We tried to reduce some of the spacing, but it ended up cutting things off. Eventually we will remove the Upgraded Forums notice, which will reduce the spacing.

I went back into the archive, and I see what you mean now. Yes, I think I can recreate this.

Yes, unfortunately, I do not think there is anything I can do about this.

I still have the original ancient-forums available on apolloabove.org, however, the search function does not work (requires an active database). This is something I could look into in the future, but I am focusing on major current tasks.

Account linking is not possible at the moment.

I frequently use the Search to find things that I have written before, or things that other people have written before, so that I can copy this message and share it as an answer where somebody is asking about this. I often write very long messages when I am explaining something, so it is impossible for me to remember everything that I wrote without forgetting to include things. Especially if I wrote the message a long time ago.

Now that the old forum has been removed, the Search is also gone. Tens of thousands of posts from several years are no longer possible to be found in a search. They might as well have all been completely deleted everything, because without a search it is impossible to find any of these. The only thing that the Search is able to find now is what has been written in the past couple days on the new forum.

Search, which is one of the top most important features, is now gone. I have multiple posts I have written before that I am wanting to copy and share as a response to questions that have been asked, and I am not able to access these so I am not able to answer and help these people with this information. But at least now people can click "like" on a comment. I think the "like" is a good idea, but I can't see how any of this was worth it. Everything that we have lost with this update was much more valuable than what we have gained.

If that would be true why did I find a post made by before platform update by using the search here?

Remember Ol's post on karma?
Search for the keyword "karma", not a topic title, and author is Ol argedco luciftias.
You can't find it because it was a comment and it is impossible to search for comments that was made on the previous fourms.
I ran a bunch of keywords such as "addiction" and so on, as these are posts with replies that can help others. They do not show up in the search results.

Yes, it is impossible to search for replies, but not only trough the search function.

If you go to anyone's profile and "postings" OR find -> find all content by... It won't display the replies that they have posted on the previous forum, the only replies it will display is the ones you made in the current forum.

My guess it is because the replies does not have titles anymore, and they got stored differently than how they are now.

I think the best solution would be, to host the previous forum, with the previous database, and the previous system. People should not be able to register or login there, but everyone should be able to use the search function.
This way we can access the previous things completely fine without bugs.

And me personally I would delete all previous stuff from THIS forum so we prevent bugs and so on. That database is almost incompatible with this system.
That archivated forum would be hosted under ancient-forums.com, so than the old links would work COMPLETELY.
And I would host this forum under jos-forums.org or something.

Or we could just go back to what we had before, which was working perfectly for like 7 years. And undo all of this bullshit. I searched in the regular search, and I went to my profile and searched just in my messages that I made, and neither of these are functional.

Who gives a fuck about adding a few more colors and pictures and a couple features from twitter if the core functionality of the forum is dead? The whole point of this forum existing is that the forum is supposed to be functional so people can use it to share information and educate people. If you want twitter, then go to twitter. But there is a true and important purpose for our forum to exist, and this has been killed. I would rather have something that looks plain and simple and works perfectly in every way, instead of something that looks complicated and colorful and does not work at all.

This update is like if I burned down your home, then I say it's okay look at this new shed I got for you. Look at the bright paint on the new shed, isn't it more colorful looking?

Meanwhile everything you owned that was in your home was all lost and gone. And the new shed has no electricity, no water, no heat, no air conditioner, no way to cook food. But it has some small feature added like a welcome mat to clean your shoes, so you're told it is a great improvement.

In the future:

There are some concerns regarding the site, particularly the search query restrictions. Currently, I am unable to search for common 3-character words, a functionality that was available before the forum changes. Is it possible to reduce this restriction to 2-3 characters, with a preference for the former? This adjustment would be beneficial due to the prevalence of abbreviations, including those with such low character counts like "SS" and "HPS".

Another issue involves clicking on any image within the featured content section, which results in a logout from the redirected page. Consequently, I need to switch back to the previous page to remain logged in. This complicates my search process as I must either manually navigate the forums or use specific keywords for searching.

Lastly, is there a setting in the profile that allows for hiding the buttons covering part of the banner? This issue prevents me from viewing my full banner, and I would appreciate guidance on resolving this matter. If that feature is not implemented as of now, I am willing to wait for its inclusion.

The problem is that the previous database is not 100% compatible with this system. I think this forum could be made to function better than the previous with few updates, however, it will never work right with the previous database. I do also think that the previous forum was enough in terms of complexity, functionality, and look (only a dark theme was needed on my part).

I understand your feelings about this, I hope that everything will solved eventually. Also keep in mind that upgrades and changes are needed, this modern look might be more appealing for newcomers, even if I'm highly on the side of minimalism for a hundred reasons.

Sorry if this has been mentioned but it would be nice to have a notification when our posts have been approved by moderators. I know you guys are working on putting the prior ones off-mod again but the above would still be convenient for those still on mod.

I mentioned that, and yes this would be very good.

Laugh out loud I don't know about you? I am still trying to figure out a lot of the new mechanics here on this new form! I like it and yet at the same time it's kind of tedious! You have to be careful what you post and how you post it? Following the rules the best I can and I know that we are all into this! Trying to get everything back in order and I noticed that a lot of people are still getting used to it
