This has sat here too long unanswered so I'll bite.

One can charge a symbol of their making with runes and energy, etc, I've done this myself and it works in a similar way that you charge a pendant. You associate energies in with the symbol as some sort of spiritual connection of your own manifestation and the symbol will then tie into those energy if you program it to. You have to believe the symbol has power and meaning though and specify just what those are.

Our JoS logo for example, that baphomet pentagram with "Joy of Satan" written over it, it works in a similar manner with certain energies that span across our organization to protect and work with the ministry as a whole. I focus on it when doing the JoS Protection ritual. It's more than just an image we have lying around.

When I was experiencing a drug induced psychosis, I kept seeing our particular pentagram between consciousness. It’s definitely potent.

I don’t really see the point in combining runes into personal sigils though? A lot of the power from runes is vibrating its name. Would you just vibrate all of them in succession if you combined some of them? Then when you vibrate you’ve lost the clear visual of what you’re vibrating. I’m not saying it wouldn’t work, but when we do the race awakening ritual there’s a reason we don’t combine the three into a single symbol, like sigil magic would imply. It just seems more effective to keep them in their natural form.

A specific mark or symbol can be used to consecrate something I suppose, or to protect it. Or perhaps it can be made to connect with something. Energy can be programmed in a lot of ways, how is dependent upon the user.
