Re: MIchigans protests
Michigan is one of the worst states for corona infections. So there is some reason to try to keep them at home and stop the spreading.
But the way they are doing it has problems that can't be justified. Best example of this that I think of right now is that people are not allowed to buy seeds. So they can't leave their home, and they are not allowed to grow their own food either. Which just doesn't make any sense, they should be encouraged to try to grow seeds so they aren't so dependent on food stores. Many people already ran out of money and have to line up in places giving free food, and these lines are hours long with thousands of cars. People are starving. And if they try to buy vegetable seeds they might get arrested.

Re: MIchigans protests
I am from Michigan but did not participate as I don’t like to be directly involved in stuff. I am glad people are waking up. I was suprised to talk to a couple people I met who are into a lot of the causes the Democrats usually champion (such as gay rights womens rights being a non Christian and opposing many of the things they do) but was big on voting Republican and opposing what the Democrats. A lot of people are leaving that party. This is good for us. The hard core Democrats literally shut down anyone that disagrees with them on even the littlest thing and you can’t even have a discussion about this with them. Gawd forbid someone were to ever bring up Nazism imagine how they would react (although not what the people I am referring to are into I keep quiet about that stuff all the time to be honest)
I feel also how they are closing some businesses here by force that would have the same risk and allowing others to stay open is kind of nuts doesn’t make sense. They are also trying to keep everyone home all the time is unfair. Luckily no police officers have been bothering people about being out and about as far as I am aware in my area at least.

That's revolting, I didn't expect these times to come so quick.... What will most likely going to happen is that these conditions will expand world wide. It is no surprize that the reaction to what you described is this:Ol argedco luciftias wrote: Many people already ran out of money and have to line up in places giving free food, and these lines are hours long with thousands of cars. That is good, in my country people are forced to fill up `forms` with their ID, adress and the reason why they are leaving their homes, every time when they have to do it. If they don't have the forms, or even if they forget to write something down (I seen cases, like they forgot to put their signature), they get like $500 fine, which for most of them is the salary for one month. The police is really abusive there with this pandemic.slyscorpion wrote: Luckily no police officers have been bothering people about being out and about as far as I am aware in my area at least.

Where is this happening in Michigan?
Everything seems pretty normal here right now I admit I haven’t tried to go to a food bank or soup kitchen or anything but I didn’t think it was that bad. Yes some people are probably out of money or close to it but things seem pretty normal here at least on the surface.
Yes it may happen like you said at some point that is why I am trying to stock up but I don’t think we are to that point yet. The government and other organizations are doing good on supplying most people at least with money and other needs.
Don’t really want to admit where I am for privacy reasons from Michigan is ok cause it’s a big place but I don’t think it’s that bad yet. I live in a midsized city.

The part I wrote at the end about people starving and lining up for hours for food, that part is not about Michigan it's happening all around the country.slyscorpion wrote:Ol argedco luciftias wrote:Michigan is one of the worst states for corona infections. The part about Michigan is just that they got a lot of infected people, and they aren't allowed to buy seeds. Then with all the starving people all over the country, I think it's backwards and wrong for anyone to not be allowed to buy seeds.

I read an article about the protests that said that the vast majority of coronavirus cases are in the Detroit area; like, 80%+, even more if you include the suburbs in the surrounding counties. That, according to the article, is a big reason why people are so pissed, as these restrictions are statewide when most of the cases are in Detroit. You likely wouldn't see this level of pushback if the tightening of restrictions was largely limited to the Detroit metropolitan area and surrounding counties. The article went on to say that many of the protesters were people from all across the state coming to Lansing to participate.slyscorpion wrote:Where is this happening in Michigan?

I tend to be skeptical of anything I read in the media because media, but if you're saying things are still fairly normal-ish in your area then that could lend the aforementioned article some credibility in regards to these claims.

I don’t believe anyone is getting arrested for buying seeds it would be in the News if it happened quickly. People can still buy these online even if not in the stores which I kind of doubt as well but I have not tried to do as I live in an Apartment complex no place to put a garden so I don’t know to be honest if you can still get them in stores.Powstanie Pogańskie wrote:I read an article about the protests that said that the vast majority of coronavirus cases are in the Detroit area; like, 80%+, even more if you include the suburbs in the surrounding counties. Also I can guarantee you if people were starving there would be a huge amount more chaos and people being robbed and stuff than there is. I just don’t see a problem yet and yes I have been out and about sometimes I have a few friends.
I am not saying it won’t get to a really bad point at sometime in the future. What I am saying is that I think wherever this info came from is over stating the problems right now.
At least in Michigan haven’t been other places so can’t say on that.
