Did Jesus perform his miracles with the help of cannabis oil (Rex)

Did Jesus rely on a secret ingredient – cannabis oil – to pull off his miracles and heal the sick?

That’s the controversial claim made by author David Bienenstock.

The author claims that anointing oils used during the period contained ‘kaneh-bosem’, a herb which he suggests may have been cannabis extract.

Bienenstock, who writes pro-cannabis tracts, claims that the extracts could have helped ‘cure’ people who Jesus treated.

Other experts are more sceptical.

Most historians suggest that the link between ‘kaneh-bousem’ and cannabis is extremely weak – with most believing it was Calamus instead.

Bienenstock says, ‘Historical records show that cannabis was widely available at the time – they would’ve known how to grow it and exploit its medicinal properties.

‘There is nothing different in the efficacious cannabis oil used today that wouldn’t have been available to people in Jesus’ time – it’s simply a matter of concentrating the cannabis into the oil and absorbing it through the skin.’
