The Earth's axis slowly moves due to the Earth's precession which makes the positions of constellations to move gradually through the signs (the signs are fixed in their position, and each is exactly 30°).
This means that fixed stars also move, usually around 1° every 72 years. This is very important to keep in mind when reading fixed stars. An example is Betelgeuse, which is now at 0° of Cancer. A person with a planet at 27° of Gemini will no longer have this fixed star prominent in their chart.
A very good example is with the fixed star Spica and the chart of Warren Buffett. Spica brings a lot of wealth. This site is wonderful and keeps track of the positions of fixed stars throughout the decades and centuries.

You can see that Spica was at 22° of Libra in the 1930s , the decade he was born.
Warren Buffett has his Venus at 22° of Libra in tight conjunction with Spica placed on his south node. Pluto (extremes) ties in at 20° of Cancer, almost within 2°. This whole configuration is clearly of wealth. More pointers in his chart include Sagittarius rising (rules wealth), Saturn ruling his 2nd house in a tight trine with the Sun and the Moon tying in (rules his 8th house which also has to do with finances) from the critical 4° of Sagittarius.

Suppose Spica was not at 22° of Libra. Then Venus at 22° of Libra would actually be a possible indicator of financial problems. 22° is very unfortunate and Venus rules money. With the South Node (strongly fated things) also involved, such a configuration would be very bad for the affairs ruled by Venus. This why knowing the position of a fixed star when reading a chart is very important, as you can miss a very important detail. Remember to use an orb of 1½ to 2° maximum for conjunctions and oppositions.
