Throughout this whole post, I don't think you've realised something really important here - people can decide what they want to do for themselves. I know, crazy right. A second opinion might influence their decision - but ultimately, it is theirs.

Self defense will always be necessary. It is human nature and has been happening since our tribal days. There is always going to be disagreements and difference of opinions, political differences, racism etc, it will never go away. Unless you want to bend over, or get mowwed down like a cow in a cattle field, self-defense military is necessary. And this is coming from a conscientious objector.
