Question about freeing the soul

Something I was thinking about: let's say one is doing a working to end a past life love commitment that is hindering the individual's love life.
When the individual finishes the working, is the other person set free aswell?

I thing yes because you will destroy the link that connect you to that person...but i'm not sure.
