one general encounter I have found in the occult community is with these shadow figures,mostly harmless,they used to come in when i would be meditating and then when i would focus on them they would take off running.earthbound spirits?

Some people say that they are harmless (from what I have read on Myspace Occult forums), although in my own personal experience, they have a tendency of causing discomfort around pets and people by lurking behind them, walking out of mirrors and surrounding one at bedtime (my experience.)
I find it's always helpful to clean your aura and build an aura of protection before meditating, just in case.
I am not sure what they are, but shouldn't this question be in the main JoS group?

I figure this is better,more focused on the occult less on politics.
Anyhow yeah I have the SAME experiences,specially when i have become more active.like this last week i have projected about once a day,anyhow last night this fucker started feeding off me,i jumped out of my body and searched my local astral space,which is frankly my level of development,i sensed it just outside my sphere,i kicked shit around making a fuss,then when i got out i burnt some white sage etc but when going to sleep i turn and feel some spiritual pressure and tingling and turn over to see a green/blackish aura and it blink out real fast,they certainly like to hide.again i banish and then go back into sleep and find myself being fed on again,this time i get a quick glimpse,it is a horriable mangled rotting head,with a little bit of a spine.
So my belief is the Shadow people are what some eastern cultures call "Hungry ghost" people stuck in their astral bodies or maybe the discarded astral husk functioning with a bare minimal intelligence with the sole ability/goal of feeding on people.I find any time one becomes active they start to come around.
only thing i can think of doing is getting pissed off and not letting them intimidate you as a living being is infinitely more fit then them

I've encountered them on several occasions. The first time was in meditation, one came up to me where I could see him in my mental sphere, and faced me face to face but when I looked at him it flew off. Another time, I was doing a spell to curse the pope, and I saw a shade like the time before standing in front of me during my ritual. This one was different though, It had a bright burning white coat on still it's body was dark though. The coat was glowing very brightly, and it was like a robe of sorts that had a hood and a was very long. So they may be decayed souls feeding off life energy, but I think they feed off prayers too. That's why the one in the vatican was so much different I'm assuming.
